Level 3: Headquarters! : RD 13

[[Bakura's looking insanely upbeat today. Almost hyper for the first time in ages.]]

Hey everyone! I talked with the King about having a place of our own that's not at the castle, where we can keep our own records and maps and things like that and he's giving us a mansion! It's that big one, not too far from the East Bridge, right on the water, the one that looks a little run down? He said it's been abandoned for a while so it needs a bit of work to fix it up, but that shouldn't be too hard to find people to help with that, right?

Who wants to come check it out with me?

Schwanheim could use a bit of culture beyond romance novels and gossip rags. Where's the epic poetry, the ballads, the paintings, the tavern songs!

I think I saw some paintings in the palace... the sort of generic background ones like you'd seen in an RPG.

I suppose I haven't explored the castle that much. And it really is quite like an RPG, isn't it. The roles, the almost two-dimensional villagers. I'm surprised no one has asked me to slay the rats in their cellar.

[[covers a small laugh]] Maybe we skipped the beginner levels and have gone right on to fetch quests.

Does that mean escort quests are coming up?

[shiromadoushi]

Aaaa, I hope not! Those rarely go well.

[shadedsunlight]

They're only frustrating in games because the NPCs always walk so slow or have pathing issues. If you're escorting someone with a shred of sense, it's not so bad. [Unfortunately, most people seem to lack a shred of sense.]

[shiromadoushi]

But who else would we be escorting except for someone like that? [[points out with a smile]]

Think it'dd be breaking rules if you picked up the person and carried them?

I'd think that'd depend on how you did it. Knocking them out and stuffing them in a sack would be the best for us, but we might lose points for it...

Really? Points are involved? I didn't know that. Who is in the lead? [Don't take her seriously, she's joking.]

[shiromadoushi]

We'd have to count up quests to find out. [[grinning, enjoying this]] Maybe we can keep a high score board in the headquarters~

Think we could get the king involved? Give out special prizes to the most helpful heroes around?

I don't see why not! What else is a king there for in a game?

[shadedsunlight]

Very true. Though I wonder where the queen is in all of this? If there is a queen.

[shiromadoushi]

[[he pauses, blinking]] I don't think I've ever heard a queen mentioned, come to think of it.. but there must be one, if there's a prince, right?

[shadedsunlight]

In theory, yes. Perhaps she passed away at some point or maybe ran off to another kingdom. Or the prince could be an illegitimate child. Who knows?

I'd hope the king would.

I'm not sure, the king seems a bit daft. [And if Ginia is suddenly dragged off by the royal guards or otherwise disappears, this is probably why.]

I'd hope he wouldn't be so bad to not know that!

[shadedsunlight]

I would hope so too, but who knows. I suppose if the prince was even the slightest bit illegitimate, the townspeople would be all over that.

Unless they already know and that's last year's gossip~

[Ginia huffs a lightly at the idea, smiling in amusement.]

Goodness, do you think anyone would be willing to share gossip from last year? I'd hate to miss out on such a good story.

[shiromadoushi]

I'm sure they'd be more than happy to go on for hours about it!

Maybe we've been going about trying to get information from them all wrong, if we make it sound like we're asking for gossip, maybe we can find out something useful?
