[[Bakura's looking insanely upbeat today. Almost hyper for the first time in ages.]]

Hey everyone! I talked with the King about having a place of our own that's not at the castle, where we can keep our own records and maps and things like that and he's giving us a mansion! It's that big one, not too far from the East Bridge, right on the water, the one that looks a little run down? He said it's been abandoned for a while so it needs a bit of work to fix it up, but that shouldn't be too hard to find people to help with that, right?

Who wants to come check it out with me?

[[Nods]] Maybe we can even make one just for rumors?

Goodness, I think that one will fill up fast.

Maybe we can make some money, making volumes of them and selling them to the locals. And maybe we can add some of our own that we want them to think are true while we do it!

[shadedsunlight]

It would be a good way to generate some income. [The gears are already turning...] I think it'd be good having some sort of resource bank to draw from. Clothes, supplies, money, that sort of thing.

[shiromadoushi]

So that we don't have to rely on the castle staff just giving us things, you mean? [[Not that he had much trouble there, a little bit of healing magic made for a very good barter!]]

Precisely. While the kingdom is kind to provide for us, I think we should have our own means of sustaining ourselves. [There's no telling how long the, the heroes, will remain in the favor of the kingdom. She's seen it before; all it takes is a single decree, a single world, and they could be cut off from whatever they once had. Best they begin making preparations now and build up some coffers and storerooms to be on the safe side.]

If there's anything you can think of that we need before we get the book done... I think I have at least 40 favors I can call in from a lot of the locals. Mostly the elderly. [[a soft laugh. He's sort of avoided most people under 40, just because of the fangirls.]]

[Ginia whistles, clearly impressed.]

How did you get so many favors?

[shiromadoushi]

Healing. Mostly small things like arthritis or general aches and pains and things like that. Big things, they can go see the other White Mage or healers for, but little things they don't feel it's worth the effort to go find someone. It's pretty easy to spot me and call me over and I really don't mind it. It feels nice to be able to help.

[Sensible enough. Give a little, get a little.]

It's very kind of you to do so. Do you know if there are many White Mages around?

[shiromadoushi]

Not too many... I think mostly there's just the one at the Monastery... the monks can do some healing too, I think.

[shadedsunlight]

Interesting. Lots of fighters, but few healers. No wonder your services are so valuable. Do you know if there are doctors around?

[shiromadoushi]

In this place? [[a smile of amusement]] The closest you get are the herbalist monks, I'm pretty sure.

[shadedsunlight]

Not surprised, for some reason. I suppose herbalist monks are better than amputation-happy doctors. [Or plague doctors. Wouldn't that be a foreboding sight.]

I haven't seen any amputees so I assume that they must have some other fetish they use. Maybe leeches. Far more subtle a way of trying to kill the patient, ne?

Leeches, snake oil, and herbal remedies. May I never get sick.

I know I can cure hangovers, so hopefully I can take care of anything else like it with my magic! Else we're all in trouble...
