Level 3: Headquarters! : RD 13

[[Bakura's looking insanely upbeat today. Almost hyper for the first time in ages.]]

Hey everyone! I talked with the King about having a place of our own that's not at the castle, where we can keep our own records and maps and things like that and he's giving us a mansion! It's that big one, not too far from the East Bridge, right on the water, the one that looks a little run down? He said it's been abandoned for a while so it needs a bit of work to fix it up, but that shouldn't be too hard to find people to help with that, right?

Who wants to come check it out with me?

I don't see why not! What else is a king there for in a game?

Very true. Though I wonder where the queen is in all of this? If there is a queen.

[shiromadoushi]

[[he pauses, blinking]] I don't think I've ever heard a queen mentioned, come to think of it.. but there must be one, if there's a prince, right?

[shadedsunlight]

In theory, yes. Perhaps she passed away at some point or maybe ran off to another kingdom. Or the prince could be an illegitimate child. Who knows?

I'd hope the king would.

I'm not sure, the king seems a bit daft. [And if Ginia is suddenly dragged off by the royal guards or otherwise disappears, this is probably why.]

I'd hope he wouldn't be so bad to not know that!

[shadedsunlight]

I would hope so too, but who knows. I suppose if the prince was even the slightest bit illegitimate, the townspeople would be all over that.

Unless they already know and that's last year's gossip~

[Ginia huffs a lightly at the idea, smiling in amusement.]

Goodness, do you think anyone would be willing to share gossip from last year? I'd hate to miss out on such a good story.

[shiromadoushi]

I'm sure they'd be more than happy to go on for hours about it!

Maybe we've been going about trying to get information from them all wrong, if we make it sound like we're asking for gossip, maybe we can find out something useful?

Perhaps we have. I'll have to see if I can dig up some of last year's gossip and make an entry in our little guidebook. Who knows, maybe there is something worth knowing about.

At the very least it might be something to distract them with, right?

Out of curiosity, is there any important old gossip or just the usual scuttlebutt?

This is true. Wish me luck, I think I'll need it with these folks.

There is some! I can generate some old gossip with one important one in there for you if you want :)

That would be awesome. She'd begin snooping around on RD 14 and 15.

Certainly. I'll make note of anything interesting I find in whatever log book we put together.

It's all old, so date doesn't matter :)

[[Nods]] Maybe we can even make one just for rumors?

Goodness, I think that one will fill up fast.

Maybe we can make some money, making volumes of them and selling them to the locals. And maybe we can add some of our own that we want them to think are true while we do it!

[shadedsunlight]

It would be a good way to generate some income. [The gears are already turning...] I think it'd be good having some sort of resource bank to draw from. Clothes, supplies, money, that sort of thing.

[shiromadoushi]

So that we don't have to rely on the castle staff just giving us things, you mean? [[Not that he had much trouble there, a little bit of healing magic made for a very good barter!]]

Precisely. While the kingdom is kind to provide for us, I think we should have our own means of sustaining ourselves. [There's no telling how long the, the heroes, will remain in the favor of the kingdom. She's seen it before; all it takes is a single decree, a single world, and they could be cut off from whatever they once had. Best they begin making preparations now and build up some coffers and storerooms to be on the safe side.]

If there's anything you can think of that we need before we get the book done... I think I have at least 40 favors I can call in from a lot of the locals. Mostly the elderly. [[a soft laugh. He's sort of avoided most people under 40, just because of the fangirls.]]

[Ginia whistles, clearly impressed.]

How did you get so many favors?

[shiromadoushi]

Healing. Mostly small things like arthritis or general aches and pains and things like that. Big things, they can go see the other White Mage or healers for, but little things they don't feel it's worth the effort to go find someone. It's pretty easy to spot me and call me over and I really don't mind it. It feels nice to be able to help.
