[ Alanna appears decked out in light armor on the open field the king's men use to train. Her weapons are behind her and her violet eyes glitter with determination. ]

It's been quite long enough, I think, for each of us to get our bearings. It's time we started to train for whatever madness this realm intends to throw our way.

[ She turns to give a view of her location, the weapons ready to be used, other training gear strewn about the field. ]

If you're with me, we will meet on the training yard today. Bring whatever weapons you can use. We'll see if we can't learn to work together.

You're welcome to join us, Faolan. Just be careful you aren't in the way.

Faolan should learn to be effective as well as fierce.

[Faolan whines softly. Why do people keep saying that to him?]

It might be too soon for you to join us in serious training, but I am teaching a few beginners in my own time. You'd be welcome to join them.

I'll see you there. Um, do you know if they have something like... training swords? I don't want to cut anyone on accident.

[shorterinperson]

I'm sure there are dulled blades in the armory. If you can't find anything we can take one down to the blacksmith and have him dull it for you.

[slasher]

Oh! Good, that's very good. Yes, I think that'll be fine. I'll look forward to it.

[She sounds a little nervous. Funny, that.]

I'll look forward to seeing you here. Do let me know if you have trouble finding a weapon to use.

You're welcome to join us. We'll be practicing more than swordplay.

Why would I need to practice? I already know how to fight.

[She smiles. Cats aren't really ones much for training. You want to train some one, then you need a dog. ^_^"]

I don't mind watching you give it a try though.

[shorterinperson]

The idea is to get people working together, in case we're needed in the future. But I understand if you're a lone wolf. [ Or cat. Or dragon, in one of her teacher's case. ]

I can understand that. If you want to fight in a group it would be better to figure out how to do that.

[Definitely the 'lone wolf' kind. Unless some one is in trouble. Koma will help out in those cases. ]

Not many of the people who were brought here really seem like fighters.

A keen proposition, Sir Alanna. Should you need any assistance with instruction, I am happy to lend my hands.

It would be a tremendous service. I believe we'll have a bigger crowd than I bargained for.

I am thankful, for that. It becomes clearer every day that the king's intentions are clouded. Unknown to even him, perhaps. To organize our numbers outside of kingdom-run events can only be beneficial.

[shorterinperson]

My thoughts exactly. It is clear the knights of this land are not being used as effectively as they might. [ And she's not friends with the king, so she can't get in his face and tell him so. ]

[brosif]

And the town itself -- a neighboring village has supposedly disappeared in its entirety, yet these people act as if they are besieged by nothing. As if their sons and daughters aren't fighting a war a mere five days ride away.

I've got a knife. Will that do?

Of course. A knife is an excellent weapon in close combat.

Don't forget to practice with a proper sword, too. You need to build your arm strength.
