[The little lady is finally making use of her little orb, but if the frown on her face is any indication she'd not using it happily. The room she's in looks suspiciously like one from the monastery. ]

I don't care if I get caught again I'm not staying here. It's boring. I would have rather been sent to jail. [She wouldn't actually, she's just sore she got caught in the first place.]

All I took was some bread. If who ever brought me here didn't want me to take things, they shouldn't have left me here without any money.

[So much amusement] If it's bread you want, I'm sure you'll get some where you are. Monks are usually happy to feed stray children.

I'm not a stray. [Pout]

[This does not stop the amusement] I was under the impression that only strays got dropped off at a monastery.

[A bit more serious] Since you're one of us, it makes sense that you wouldn't have a home to go to. How long have you been here?

[halfwitch]

I got sent here because I got caught taking food, not because I'm a stray.

A few days.

And have you taken food without getting caught before? [A few days? She has to have eaten, right?]

[halfwitch]

[She bites her lip.] I found some stuff in the forest. Berries and stuff. I took an apple yesterday too.

[There would be so much facepalming if she wasn't talking to Gretel.]

And where have you been staying?

[brosif]

[The more children she sees in the orbs, the more Sif wants to show the king and his advisers the sharp end of her sword.]

You were brought here with no resources?

[halfwitch]

I have my knife and wands. But nothing else.

[brosif]

And were you given any sort of accommodations? Anyone to care for you?

[halfwitch]

[She shuffles uncomfortably.] No.

[brosif]

[There are a number of things here that Sif finds unacceptable, but this goes at the very top of the list.]

And you are at the monastery, now? Or have you found a prison that looks suspiciously like one?

[halfwitch]

The men who caught me said this was the monastery. There's a bunch of monks here. [She lowers her voice, leaning forward as if telling Sif some secret.] I wouldn't doubt if they were just making it look all real like this just to trick kids though.

Shall we have some action? [Since the monks don't have the use of orbs]

[herbalistmonk]

[There is a knock at the door, although the monk that enters doesn't wait for her to reply. He is young - perhaps 20 at most - and has a very harassed look.]

You're the one the officers want us to take in as a ward?

Action it is

[halfwitch]

[She looks up at him with an expression a few degrees off from being a glare. Someone's none to happy about this turn of events.]

I'm not staying here. I don't care what those officers want.

Well, there's not much I can do about you not liking it. But children need a home.

[He eyes her clothes] You don't look much like a Schwanheim child. Where did you come from?

[halfwitch]

This isn't a home. You take in kids here right? [Or at least that's what the officers told her] This is like a foster home. [She practically spits out the word.]

Australia.

[herbalistmonk]

[He smiles at that] Well, it's my home. And the home of all the other brothers. And while we normally don't take girls, we make an exception for young ones without a home.

[Then his brow wrinkled a little] Australia? Where's that?

[halfwitch]

Even if the girls don't want to be here?

You don't know where that is? It's Australia. The biggest island nation in the whole world.

I believe the trick is not to get caught. [ You wouldn't have lasted a minute in Corus, dear. ]

[halfwitch]

I tried not to.

[shorterinperson]

I can hardly teach you if you're being imprisoned all the time. I'll just have to feed you, won't I?

[halfwitch]

Really?

[shorterinperson]

I wouldn't be a very good teacher if I didn't.
