[The little lady is finally making use of her little orb, but if the frown on her face is any indication she'd not using it happily. The room she's in looks suspiciously like one from the monastery. ]

I don't care if I get caught again I'm not staying here. It's boring. I would have rather been sent to jail. [She wouldn't actually, she's just sore she got caught in the first place.]

All I took was some bread. If who ever brought me here didn't want me to take things, they shouldn't have left me here without any money.

[This does not stop the amusement] I was under the impression that only strays got dropped off at a monastery.

[A bit more serious] Since you're one of us, it makes sense that you wouldn't have a home to go to. How long have you been here?

[halfwitch]

I got sent here because I got caught taking food, not because I'm a stray.

A few days.

And have you taken food without getting caught before? [A few days? She has to have eaten, right?]

[halfwitch]

[She bites her lip.] I found some stuff in the forest. Berries and stuff. I took an apple yesterday too.

[There would be so much facepalming if she wasn't talking to Gretel.]

And where have you been staying?

[halfwitch]

There's a little space in between one of the shops and another building. [Basically, sleeping in the streets.]

[knowsmorethanyou]

[SO MUCH facepalming] And you were planning on doing this for how long?

[halfwitch]

[She shrugs.] Until I find someplace better. I wanted to stay in the forest, but I started hearing wild things in there at night fall.

[knowsmorethanyou]

You'd do best to stay where you are, then. At least you'll get food and somewhere to sleep that's inside.

But I don't like it here.

[knowsmorethanyou]

What's wrong with it?

[halfwitch]

This place is like a foster home or an orphanage. Haven't you read books? Those places are never okay. [She's going off what she's seen in movies and heard kids whisper about.]

[knowsmorethanyou]

I find that real life is often different than stories. Get your own information and then make your own conclusions.

[halfwitch]

But what if the stories are right?

[knowsmorethanyou]

Then you'll have a better idea what to do after you collect information. Now all you have are half remembered stories from somewhere else, so you can't plan what to do next.

[halfwitch]

But what if the stories were wrong and its even worse. And staying here will get me eaten or something. I can't plan anything if I'm someone's stomach. [This is perfectly sound kid logic.]

Did you need help to be circumspect? [Amused again]

To be what?

Oh. No, I think I'm usually pretty good at it.

Then you shouldn't be worried about being eaten. Just pretend to be good and look around until you can make a conclusion and not just jump to one.

I guess so. That's probably make it easier to get away later on, anyway.
