Orb, Day 2 of the Great Heat's Beginning
[Kay looks tired. His injuries haven't fully healed yet -- there are some bandages visible above the neckline of the tunic he's wearing. It looks like he's done his best to hide them, but not quite succeeded.]
So, uh...I've got this horse, and...does anybody want it? I mean, I'm not going to do anything with it. I can't freaking ride a horse. So it might as well go to someone who can, right?
I can get around just fine without it, and I don't have a clue how to take care of the damn thing. Someone take it off my hands already. Same with this sword thing.
[He holds it up, turning it back and forth in the light, looking at it.]
I don't need it. I don't even know if it's any good. But if I keep it, it's not gonna kill anything but dust bunnies, because it's not coming out from under the bed, you know what I mean?
Any takers? I'll trade you something for them.

not for long, though :(
I know how they're supposed to work. I'd just be more comfortable with a piece of rebar or something.
[Sigh.]
I'm Kay. You can probably tell from the horse and sword I'm trying to pawn that I don't really care about being a knight.
I expect no replies when I tag after work. Sorry.
[She tips her head to the side, pushing a bi of hair back behind her ear.]
You don't like playing games, I'm guessing. Can't blame you there.
It's cool bro, we'll make it work! I'm in this game because the pace is so slow
Yeah. Me too.
[But he's going to leave those memories in the past. Selene offered a different subject, and Kay's going to take it.]
I don't like being messed with. This whole place -- if it wasn't bad enough that it pulled me away from my entire life, it's like it's making fun of me on top of that. Telling me I'm a knight, dressing me up in fur, giving me things I can't use, and then the person in charge of it all being some kind of idiot...guh, it's just insulting.
We do what we can, after all~
It probably says something about my life that I'm not upset about winding up here, I imagine.
My brother won't be very happy, though, when he finds out I'm gone.
no subject
That's a little sad, yeah. I mean, mine wasn't a cakewalk either, but it was looking up, you know? I was going to patch things up with my girl.
[She's got a brother? A brother who is probably worried. Kay hadn't thought much about the people he'd left behind up until now. He looks thoughtful.]
no subject
[She laughed, and offered Kay a grin.]
Honey, you'll be home to see her. Even if that means playing this stupid game for a little while. Magic brought you here, it can send you back. We just have to find someone who can say the right nonsense, and poof, right back.
See Kay run. See Kay jump to conclusions.
He also realizes that he's going to have to hide Faolan from her. Oh, hell. That's not going to be easy. Kay tries not to look too suspicious, but he hesitates a beat too long to be casual before speaking again.]
Y-yeah, that's what I thought, but everyone says no one can do it. Not even the people who brought us here. They say we can go back after the thorns are gone, whenever that'll be.
[He's covering up his nervousness well now.]
I'm inclined to believe them. If there's a way back, no one's found it yet. That's not counting the people who randomly disappear, though. That happens, too.
Run Kay, Run!
No one has done it. That doesn't make it impossible. Worst case scenario, we just have to beat these thorns. That's what we are her for, anyway.
no subject
Maybe it's not impossible, but I'd bet people have been looking for a way back home for a while now. If they haven't found it, what are our chances?
no subject
Well, that doesn't mean I won't look. But it does mean I'm going plan like I'm stuck here for a while, even if I might not want to be. I can hate it or deal with it, so. I figure at least I don't hate the dresses.
[She grins at the orb.]
Are you at the castle often? I've accepted a room here, for now.
no subject
[He meets her grin with a wince.]
You're lucky that you like the clothes. I'm not going to go into what they tried to make me wear.
no subject
[She shrugged to herself.]
Perhaps I shall see you around, then. Though I'm not in that wing, I fear.
no subject
But yeah, we're gonna run into each other again. This town isn't that big, and we're staying in the same place.
See you around -- Selene, right?
no subject
no subject
Oh, yeah. Sorry. It's Kay. Kay Curtis.
no subject
[A little frown. The name sounded familiar, but she was pretty sure he hadn't introduced himself.]
Hmm. Well, I look forward to meeting you properly, Mr. Curtis.
no subject
Yeah, see you.
[And he'll cut the connection.]
