Characters: Thor + Loki + anyone else!
Open? Yes
Where: taking a short rest, more for his steed than anything else, somewhere North.
When: Day 10, noon. He's been riding almost as soon as he had woken on Day 9, night.
What: determined to find some sign of life in the realm he's now been thrust into, Thor is on the lookout for friend as well as foe...
Warnings: if threatened, things could escalate to violence, but he will not be the first to land a blow most likely - he's not here to make enemies.
---
Thor pauses, still in the raise of his hand to the mane of his horse. Eyes glancing sharply behind him at the sound he thought he had heard - "Who is there?"
His hand may have been on the hilt of his sword, but he would not draw first. Not unless he had to.. He takes a step forward, tilting his head as he looks into the thickets ahead...
"Speak. If you be not an enemy, I will not attack!"

He hears another's hoofbeats approaching and thus ignores them. Urges his shy, dappled horse into a quicker pace. It suits her; she is high-strung, like Loki himself. They two have a sympathy with one another.
And so he rounds the trail's bend, and hears Thor's challenge, and stops in shock, drawing the mare to a halt.
His mind switches tracks with appalling ease.
"Then strike you," he snarls, hand reaching for his knives, "for it is no friend that greets you here."
yay! actually gtg do a family thing in about an hour, so will tag back later if I miss any, ok? >3
"Loki..." he breathed softly, shock a poor word for what he was feeling. It was, at best, a bizarre mix of hurt, relief and anger at possible deception.
He would never strike him asked as such. No.

"The town is that way," he says, short and cold. "Sif awaits, and companions, and heroic tasks. It is no coincidence that I go the other way."
Thor may notice that Loki favors his left arm, that on his right there is the slight bulge of a bandage under the sleeve. For he did not emerge unscathed from the fight with the monster, the night prior.

Sif. She was in this accursed, confusing place, also? And what companions? Oh, what did it matter?
"Brother -" he started again, moving forward.

So instead, he’d set out to brood and get some time to think for himself. Taking the black stallion he’d been ‘gifted’ upon arrival, he headed outside the protection of the city. He’d left most of the bulky and unnecessary armor for the poor horse behind and it was obvious the stallion appreciated it because his gait was more springy and frisky today. Clint too had left most of his armor behind as well and only wore the chainmail shirt that was damned uncomfortable but great for catching any stray arrows. He had to get used to the idea that he was in a medieval time and there were no things like broad-spectrum antibiotics and the like to save his ass if he got injured.
God, what a mindfuck. Trying to shake off his grim reverie, the archer had gone far afield and hadn’t even noticed Thor’s presence until the Asgardian shouted his presence. That…sounded familiar actually. Turning the horse’s head, Clint looked to the east and saw Thor there. Jaw dropping, the blond archer gave a whoop of laughter and spurred his animal forward much to the stallion’s surprise.
“Thor! Holy shit is that you!?”

True, he wasn't a fool to disregard the book he had been given, his steed and weapon... that strange pendant about his neck. It was why he hadn't discarded them in the first instant.
The laughter wasn't a response he anticipated - but it was not unwelcome. That sunny underlay... the gallops that started with an excited voice... he set his foot back in a firm stance, ready --
They knew his name.
He realised this as the thicket was burst through and his eyes widened, sword raised but not in threat as much as surprise at the suddennes as it dawned on him just who had called out - "Clint! My friend - can - it is! Ha!"

Pulling the stallion to a halt, Clint rubbed the sun warmed neck affectionately before sliding down the horse's side. Of course, on the ground, Thor once more towered over him, much to Clint's amusement. Leading his horse by a sure hand on the reins, he crossed the last few feet between him and the Asgardian and greeted him with a wide smile.
"Wish I could say we were meeting again under better circumstances, man." Chagrin filled the shorter man's eyes as he clapped a companionable hand on the Thunder God's arm. "If you've gotten dragged into this madness, I'd say we're all well and truly screwed. A couple of the others are here so maybe they just really need that unique Avenger's touch?" He snorted with a wry twist of his mouth.

Thor smiled at the way Clint rode up, impressed by the smaller man's grasp of riding.. and he wondered how long he had been here. He seemed to be comfortable in his attire and station already and though this was comforting - because Clint was an adapter and capable, he knew - it was also a little concerning. How long -?
"It is well we have met," he murmured quietly, blue eyes meeting his a moment before they glanced over his shoulder and then back, from the road to him. So. The others were...
"Have you met them already, friend? Are they well?"

The sound of a voice broke him from his reverere and he instinctively pulled his shield from his back. He was grateful to whoever had chosen Harley for him since the horse didn't shy away, seeming to wait for Steve to decide whether to go forward or turn around. Patting Harley's neck, he urged her toward the voice. "I don't want to be an enemy, but that'll depend on you."

When his eyes happened open a pair of blue eyes, in the darkened thicket, his own narrowed slightly.. but in confusion and disbelief more than challenge or enmity.
"Forgive me," he began, stern and polite. "But I believe I know of you, friend... in face if not in person. Tell me. Who are you?"
no subject
"I think I know of you, too. My name's Captain Steve Rogers." He pauses, wondering if Thor did know him, which identity would he have been introduced to. "If you do recognize me, you might have been told my name's Captain America, not Steve."
no subject
"So. I am glad my instincts were correct." He smiled warmly now. "I am Thor, of Asgard. How did we come to be here? It is a strange realm and no one tells me anything.."
Well, those he had seen who weren't intimidated and ran off.

So when he'd seen yet another new person, he was curious. Too bad sometimes the birds liked him too much here and stealth was not an option. When the relatively too tall to be fair blonde demanded for his accountability, Tony winced. Oops.
Poking his head out from behind a tree, he wanted to rub his face when the horse did something similar to look at Thor. "Hey there. Nice day, right? Too much fresh air in my opinion, but at least it's not raining. Could you imagine the rust possibility in this area?" When he got nervous? He tended to talk too much.

Thor raised both brows at the sudden appearance and his lips quirked. Well, what a dishevelled, guilty look you wear, man.
He chuckled a little, not knowing what he meant by rust as he was sure these swords were most compatible with the weather in any case, and nodded, "It will not rain, friend... be at ease."
After all, he was confident.. he would still be able to tell.

Looking back at the tall blonde, he grinned in greeting. "I hope not. Because I'm still looking for metals to make an alloy that will be the least likely to rust..." And get Steve out of that horrid armor and into something more uniform and better looking. Running a hand through his hair, he shrugged his shoulders.
"So you're new? Name's Tony. Have you seen the castle and village yet? It's like a DnD game gone wrong."
no subject
"Whilst I am unsure what DnD is, I assure you as long as there is sustenance and aid, I shall manage." He glanced back at him. "Thor, friend... the honour is mine." He raises a hand to him, to shake.

He paused in the bushes, looking and sniffing at the stranger. But the smell and something in the voice reminded him of Loki, so he was off his guard.
Beaming, he bounded out to let the newcomer see him.
no subject
"Little one... are you alone?"
Because, regrettably, he had to suspect - someone could have sent him out here as a distraction before a real attack.

He wriggled, smiling eagerly up into Thor's face. "Play?"

Which was why, when she heard her friend’s voice, she did not run to him. The tricks of this land overrode the potential delight of his companionship. It could have been a trap.
She rounded the brush warily, hand on her sword. She wasn’t in much condition to fight, yet, but when had that ever stopped her?
