[Log] Up the Beanstalk
Characters: All who want to investigate the beanstalk
Open? Obviously :D
Where: On the outskirts of Schwanheim
When: All day
What: A giant beanstalk has made an appearance in a field outside the capital. You all know how this goes.

The beanstalk that Gretel had planted was now spindling up from the ground out of sight into the clouds, almost five feet thick in diameter as it twisted and turned upwards into the sky.
Not very far from the base lay a large lady's compact mirror, at least a foot in diameter, stuck in the dirt, it's mirror shattered. The powder lay in clumps and dust all around it, metal bent and warped. The design on the back, however, was still intact, the impact mostly having damaged the bottom half.

"Don't know! Cleaning smells like lab! TV sounds like lab! Baking could be poisoned! Don't know! People can be bad!"
He did have to admit that the only thing that made him inclined to think they were was memories of the lab, but that didn't negate his point! Just because they hadn't seen the giants being cruel didn't mean anything. They hadn't seen the giants at all, yet.

He turned, and nodded towards -- well, whatever doorway was nearest and looked most promising. With one final glance at the girl, he started that way.

"So, show of hands, who here has met a giant living in a house out of Leave it to Beaver? Because right now I think its safe to say this is new for all of us," her tone hushed but stern, like you would expect in a theater or while avoiding catching the attention of parents while you and your brother argue in the next room. Obviously next time she goes adventuring she should talk to as much of the party as possible before climbing a beanstalk, "What are we even hoping to do up here anyway?"
Right now Bay was hoping she could find some soda, a single can here could probably last her a few weeks if she could get it down and keep it cold. But that was hardly a priority at the moment. Her priority is that if they argue like this much longer they could attract attention and annoying the giants wasn't on her agenda.

The refrigerator, white with rounded edges that made it look pleasantly plump. Bay will have a bit of trouble getting up to haul it open, however, as she only comes up to about the middle of the bottom half, not quite tall enough to get an easy grip on the handle.
From behind the group comes the still faint sound of a woman's voice singing a touch off key along with the theme music to the TV show on the TV. It's getting closer.

He turned back around, scampering away from Loki to explore all the new smells of the kitchen. In here, it didn't seem so threatening.

He considered possible results: that the giant would spot them and panic, that they could hide and watch her... perhaps, now, the best choice was to take a page from Thor's book, much as Loki disliked it. Hiding could be counterproductive.
Loki paused at a doorway. Slipped out one of his knives and rapped the handle on the frame, as though knocking. The knife slipped away, hidden again, and he called: "Hello?"

And the girl’s reference to a dated television show was very humorous. Koma wondered how many of these others would understand it or if they were from times much different than her own. But, just like the boy’s curious mentioning of ‘a lab’ this didn’t seem like the time or the place to ask about those things.
“At least some one had a good reason for coming.”
Climbing of course, was a good enough excuse since Koma herself had felt the need to climb up and at least look around enough to satisfy her curiosity. Provoking an encounter with the people who lived here did not sounds like a good idea to her.

"Remember your manners," he murmured, to the other two. "And flattery rarely goes amiss. If you are afraid, come to my side, and I will cast us invisible. No matter what is said of me -- I will not leave a companion, not when it is in my ability to stay."
The words fall well on his tongue. Strong, clean.
I keep forgetting Bakura's in this scene @_@

It was a little comfort that she did sound nice enough. Of course Koma had met many creatures over the years that, while they sounded nice, were actually quite evil.
What would this creature really be like? Koma decided to wait and see... at an appropriately standoffish distance. Cats did like to do that.

Thus, time to investigate!
Faolan sniffed a few times and padded off in the direction of the giantess.

But, the smaller size would have meant hiding wouldn't require magic. Even if she doubted much trouble on the horizon given she was definitely flashbacking to reruns of the Brady Bunch. "Flattery would work best if we focus on how well she keeps her home," Bay added, as a suggestion. Giants in stories didn't care about that, but sitcom housewives of the 60s did.

A put-upon sigh, and Loki follows the boy, keeping him in sight. He is reminded of once when Thor was cursed to speak and act like a child, and Loki was tasked with guarding him.
The presence of a child would hopefully stir the giantess' heart.

She paused, taking a small step back as she spotted the intruders. "Oh my. I didn't realize it was that sort of visitors...!" she exclaimed, putting a hand over her chest with a slight shocked expression.

This lady made it sound like they were a bunch of thieves or something...
oh... wait...
"We were just curious when the vine grew all the way up here."
Which was true of her, she had just been curious. Koma assumed the others might have been as well.

She moved to sit in a near by chair, hands folding neatly in her lap. "I'm so sorry, dears, I haven't a clue what's proper in these sorts of situations, I've never met any of you little people before. Would you like a cup of tea?" She paused. "Oh dear, do I have any cups that small? If I still had some of dear Bobby's things from when he was a babe, but those went to Mary when little Theodore was born... maybe Martha's tea set..."

He touched a hand to Faolan's shoulder, unspoken permission to leave Loki's side.
"Are smaller visitors common here?" he asked.
no subject
"Faolan doesn't want tea. Faolan wants milk."
