[The video feed starts with a lovely view of... something. Blurs? Accompanied by an exclamation, "ah!", and a loud noise upon contact with what can only be assumed as the floor. You are picked up and rubbed and a few seconds later, have an actual view of somebody's face. It's a young girl, grimacing. She takes a few steps back, turns, and bows deeply before you.]

I'm Hanaori Kotoha. Um...

I'm not sure...

[Maybe it would've been a good idea to think about what she was going to say before she actually started this thing up. She laughs nervously.]

I asked questions, but... Sorry for not preparing!

[Probably not the right ones. She had asked the man about the Gedoushuu, about her friends, about where she was, but she hadn't asked any of the practical questions like where she was going to stay or how to get there.

She bows her head quickly in another apologetic gesture. Maybe she could still go back and find that man? Ask him where she would go now and how to get there? Perhaps she would receive replies from people via this orb contraption. She tried to think of it as a phone.]

[She clasps her hands together and to her chest and nods in determination.]

I'm glad I have a sword then! Do you think maybe I could join you practising sometimes?

[Aim and accuracy weren't really her specialities. She's looking around and pretty much wondering what's going on. She didn't get this treatment earlier!]

Wah, everyone's watching us...

Oh, sure, we could practice! Using a sword's probably a lot like using the Mantan Gun in Rod Mode...

[Swordsmanship isn't his special skill. It's why he most often sticks to what he knows best.]

They really seem to enjoy watching their heroes practice, heh.

[He's been known to ham it up for the crowd on occasion. He's even waving to a few of them. He likes the attention, even if he wouldn't go out and admit it.]

[Okay so this was odd.]

They're here all the time?

[She looks unsure. So maybe she wouldn't spend every day here if this was the case. Instead she would find a nice outdoorsy spot, relatively deserted. Maybe that forest everybody kept warning her about - it would be fine as long as she didn't stay until sunset.]

I don't know about all the time, but they sure do like the place.

They call everyone who was brought here a hero, and they're generally nice enough.

[They will fawn all over you if you let them, Kotoha. Enjoy this sudden potential fan club.]

So, you wanted to spar with swords, right?

[She tears her eyes from the people very tactlessly staring at them to answer.]

Ah, yes please, if you don't mind! It's the only weapon I'm good with. The Land Slicer too but I don't have that with me.

Real ones or practice ones?

[He knows where the training equipment is at, both simple wooden practice swords and swords with actual blades for more advanced training, and he's gesturing at each type.]

Practice ones are less dangerous!

[She would've ideally used her own sword to practice but she was used to practising with wooden ones too. When she was in a smaller or public space, or training with the other retainers she always used a wooden one. That warm familiarity of her own blade would have to wait. She puts her own sword down and grabs a wooden one.]

[Gunpei takes a wooden one too. In his case, it's definitely the better idea. He's just not had much cause to spend much time with swords, aside from the Mantan Gun in Rod Form. He's lightly tossing it from hand to hand, testing the weight. Judging from the way he's handling the thing, swords aren't his area of expertise.]

Ready whenever you are!

[Kotoha can see him with his sword and she doesn't exactly want to go full on at him, but then again, it's practice right? Practice makes perfect! She was thrown in at the deep end when she was called to Tono-sama's side, they were all, especially Chiaki who was the least skilled in the beginning. She holds the stick above her head and brings it down quickly on him with the accompanying appropriate noise.]

[It's pretty clear that Gunpei needs some practice with the sword, because that took him totally by surprise.]

Woah!

[There's a slight bit of fumbling as he gets back into something resembling a proper stance.]

[She's all smiles now, yay!]

This is fun already, isn't it Gunpei-san?

[She goes again.]

[And he is just going to smile right along with her, because hey, at least she's having fun even if swordplay isn't his personal favorite.]

Yeah, it's been a while since I've trained like this!

You're good, Gunpei-san! Don't you usually use guns? It must be hard to not be able to use one here.

[He seems both embarrassed and pleased by the praise. Definitely an uptick in his mood.]

You're pretty good yourself! And I do usually use guns...but they've got crossbows here! I've been learning how to use those.

[Crossbows seem so much more complex, not to mention time consuming in battle! Poor Gunpei.]

Is it hard?

It was at first, but I'm getting the hang of it!

[No one looks intensely nervous any time he picks up a crossbow now, anyway...]

That's good! Have you used it much here?

[She was interested in her task here: protecting these people.]

I haven't really had much need, so far. There was that one time I found a monster out in the forest, but weapons didn't work so well on it...

They didn't? How come?

[ It was quite unsettling to know that her weapon may or may not have any effect on the monsters here, especially seeing as it was a short range one and she didn't have her Land Slicer. ]

[He shudders.]

The only thing it would respond to was sound--someone had to go sing it into submission, pretty much.

Eh - then how are we supposed to protect the people here?

It was just one time! I don't think anything else here is like that...I hope. That was the first time I'd seen a monster like that.

I really hope not! I only have a close-range weapon...

[ She pats the sword at her side before remembering her Shodophone. It was in the pocket and they could conjure things with mojikara! Her eyes lit up but dulled again when she realised that she could hardly replicate the Land Slicer. How about a normal boomerang? ]

Ah! My Shodophone can make things! Maybe it will make me a boomerang or something.

Hey, that's worth a try! Why don't you try it now and see what happens? This is a good spot for it.

[She brings out her Shodophone, changes it to brush mode, and writes the character for --]

Ah! Do you think it's better to have shuriken instead of a boomerang?
