[Log] Up above the clouds so high

Characters: JW & the Giants
Open? If anyone else wants to head for the Giant Kingdom, just make a new thread.
Where: Just outside Schwanheim and up in the air
When: GHB 15
What: JW has a bright idea to try and suck up to gain favor with the giants by giving back the powder compact that fell to the ground the last time the Giant Kingdom was in town
Warnings: JW is his own warning.

The hole in the flood that the beanstalk so rudely punched through the floor has long since been patched up, but there are plenty of spots where the clouds part just enough to let a bathtub fly through. The view above the clouds is a rather sharp contrast to the fairy tale town below; matching mailboxes along sidewalks and paved streets, finely manicured lawns dotted with short trees stretching in front of cookie cutter modest single family homes, each with an old fashioned car either in the driveway, in front of the home or just out of sight in the garage.

All 5 times the size of what one would expect, of course. This was the kingdom of the Giants, however!

JW soon realized he was going to have to do just that. He heaved a sigh and was suddenly thankful he'd brought that walking stick along with him. After looking back at his 'boat' one last time, he set off for the nearest house. The first lawn he crossed, clipped as it was, was still something of a backwoods brush jungle. The wizard picked his way to the front door of a charming little (enormous) place and looked all the way up at the doorbell.

He really hoped they didn't have a dog.

Luckily for him, since his duel with Sasuke, James had gotten better at levitating things. Up his staff went to the doorchime. Once rung, he held out an arm to catch the staff as it fell back to him. He missed and had to stoop to grab it up.

James stood up, staff in hand, just in time to be greeted by an apron hem. He backed away from the door and coughed into a fist. Time to try and remember how to be polite.

This was going to be tough.

"EXSCUSE ME MA'AM." he shouted before pulling the sling from his back around to his chest so that the edge of the mirror could be seen. "DID YOU LOOSE THIS?"

JW made a face at being called a 'little dear'. It was such a weird thing to hear after being the village tall freak. He didn't stay offended for long. The fact that she could impale him on one of those heels was a far more important thing to focus on. He tugged the makeup compact out of the sling and held it up.

"I FOUND--" Okay, the yelling was hurting his throat. "I found this on the ground. You know. The actual ground. Down there." He pointed back in the vague direction of his ship just in case she wasn't aware there was an entire civilization down below.

Brows lifting, James couldn't help but be sort of impressed with himself. First house! First try! That had to be a record for...something. He allowed himself to stand a little taller and prop himself on his staff.

"Looks like it. All the powder fell out anyway."

"Eh," James shrugged. He didn't know anything about a fuss. Just that he had hoarded things like the vulture he was. "Just tryin' to do the right thing, ma'am!"

BIIIIIG GRIN.

JW winced when the giantess patted him. He waited. And waited. And waited for the reward that was not going to come. Once the wizard realized that, his jaws clenched, locked into a broad, fake smile.

"You're welcome."

He turned and walked a stiff-legged walk back down the lawn. If one looked, really really looked, they could see a tiny trail of steam drifting from the man's ears.
