A small thing… but well-crafted. The magic is strong.

[ He settles back: lounging, tense and casual. ]

I hear we have a community of heroes. Please; show yourselves. I am Loki -- [ and here his tongue trips, for the first time. A blink, a falter. ] -- Odinson, from Asgard realm, and I am ever so eager to make your acquaintance.

It seems Faolan has the spirit of a true warrior.

[He says it dryly. He is none so fond of warrior spirits, of late.]

[Faolan does not understand sarcasm, because he perks right up at the compliment]

Yes! Faolan protects!

Perhaps Faolan could use a few years of experience in battle before he is the protector.

[The boy deflates a bit] Faolan's only 10. [His voice holds a hint of a whine, like a puppy that's been yelled at]

I am not familiar with Midgard.

Oh. [Faolan considers] Doesn't matter here.

[ It does. If there are people from Midgard, it does.

Loki doesn't like ignorance. ]

I suppose it doesn't.

Do you know the town, Faolan?

[Faolan can be helpful! Hooray! Hooray for helpful! Might get praise and petting!]

[He perks up and smiles] Have been here 3 days. Have explored! Good smells!

Is it just a keen sense of smell, or do you have another form?

[Oh right, most people don't smell the world. Faolan often forgets this.]

[But what to say now? He shouldn't tell, but he also shouldn't lie.....]

[The length of his almost desperate silence is probably enough of an answer]

And if you were to find a magpie, one with green eyes, would you be willing to show that magpie the town? The wild and the tamed alike.

[Faolan's eyes light up.]

[The amount of teeth present might make one wonder what he likes about birds. Also, hooray for subject changes.]

The magpie will be me, so pray do not wound it.

I could take the form of a snake if it would rest easier on your sensibilities.

No pouncing? [He looks so forlorn.] Bad at catching but like to try.

[ A sigh.

Oh, Loki is so put-upon. ] Show me the city, and we'll play all the pouncing games you like.

[ Nevermind that he's secretly terribly fond of that sort of game, and that it has been a long time since he has indulged. ]
