Afternoon Explorations
Characters: Ryo Ashihara and YOU!
Open? Yep!
Where: Outside the White Forest, possibly going a bit deeper inside.
When: The afternoon of the 4th of Great Heat's Beginning.
What: Ryo gets bored and goes exploring in the hopes of finding something interesting.
Warnings: Crazy bug-man stabbytimes if something sets him off into transforming into Gills? Otherwise, I can't think of much.
Ryo was bored. And when he got bored, he tended to get a bit restless. He hadn't been spending much time in town at all as of late, instead choosing to explore as much as he could. He'd started to get the hang of riding his weirdly-armored horse, and it wasn't at all unusual for him to go out riding, searching for something of any interest.
Most of the time, he went looking for monsters. They were out there, he knew it, and if there was one thing he knew how to do, it was fight a monster. That wasn't exactly rocket science for a Kamen Rider, after all...
Today, he'd found himself at the edge of the White Forest. It was different from some of the other areas he'd been exploring, and, for whatever reason, his horse had decided it didn't really have any interest in going in very deep. It would walk a few steps, and then it would just balk at going in any further.
"Tch. Getting lazy, are you?" Ryo dismounted from the horse and walked it over to a nearby tree, tying the reins to said tree. It looked like from there, he'd be exploring the forest a bit deeper on foot.

He was already in the forest when Ryo got there, about a quarter of a mile from the edge. Kay looked like quite the monster himself: eight feet of brown-furred muscle, fangs, and claws. He wasn't one of those noble wolves, sleek and cool and graceful. Kay was ugly as sin.
When Ryo got closer, Kay would pick up on the scent. What was a person doing all the way out here? The werewolf dithered, unsure if he wanted to run into anyone while he was in this shape and still had gore from the last monster on his claws. They'd probably get the wrong idea. He spent so long wondering what to do that Ryo would be able to spot him without trouble.

But as things stood now, he'd spotted Kay and drawn all the wrong conclusions. Where he came from, monsters called Unknown roamed around killing humans, and the Unknown generally took on the form of a humanoid animal of some sort. That wolflike figure definitely brought back more than a few memories of getting up close and personal with all sorts of Unknown, and there could be only one proper response.
He crossed his arms over his chest, hands at his shoulders. For a brief moment, it looked as though he might possibly be trying to shield himself, at least until he spoke. "Henshin!" Abruptly, Ryo's form shifted into that of Gills. He was still humanoid for the most part, but there was definitely something insectoid about him as well. He was covered in green and black armored chitin plating, and this armor was adorned with wicked-looking spikes at his wrists and heels. The segmented horns on Gills's head and his large red eyes likely did nothing to soften his appearance.
Gills assumed a bit of a guard stance, curious to see what the other creature would do.

The clear choice was talk. Even if they turned into some kind of weird green bug, this person was human, and Kay could clear up this misunderstanding any time he liked.
Well, the choice would have been clear if Kay hadn't just been fighting other monsters. Adrenaline was still rushing through his body, and animal instincts were very much at the forefront of his consciousness. The animal in him wanted to fight.
Kay didn't attack yet, still too torn, but he did turn to face Gills. He crouched down, paws forward, and growled.

He met Kay's growl with one of his own, and without waiting for any further action on the werewolf's part, rushed at the other with his arms outstretched. It seemed he was angling for some sort of tackle or grapple.

He had no way of knowing how strong Gills would be, though. It was reckless, a stupid risk, but he couldn't help the rising excitement in his blood. How would this new opponent measure up?

lol so late herp derp
But he had to admit it.
"Cool," he breathed. "What kind of monster are you?"
Kay was backed away for the moment, circling Gills, waiting for an opening.
It's cool! ^^
He was, however, quite surprised when his opponent spoke. "Just a monster." His voice came out in a low growl. Speaking wasn't something he did a lot as Gills. "And you?"
Gills continued warily swinging that tentacle around, waiting for the other to strike.
no subject
He didn't strike yet, wary of the ranged weapon Gills had apparently produced from nowhere.
no subject
Gills kept casually swinging that tentacle around a bit more. He was watching the other closely, and if he thought he had an opening, he'd try to ensnare Kay.
no subject
And Kay was waiting for Gills to get that tentacle within range. He'd get hold of the ranged weapon first, then attack when he didn't have to worry about some kind of weird buggy tentacle blade.
no subject
With that, Gills tossed out that tentacle in an attempt to snare Kay.
no subject
With his free arm, Kay grabbed the tentacle and yanked, intending to draw Gills closer, into clawing range. "Do I look like I give a fuck about evolution?" he growled. "Save the science for someone who cares."

Rather than dodging, Kay took a firmer hold of the tentacle as close to Gills' body as he could manage and tried to use it to -- well -- to pull Gills off his feet and fling him around so that his body would hit a nearby tree. He didn't manage to avoid Gills' blow completely; the claws did graze him.
"--for a biology lesson," he grunted.

"No." Snarling, he took another swing at Kay.
