Day Change: the 17th of Rebirth's Decline
Today is the 17th day of the Decline of the Season of Rebirth in the 137th Year Since the Wall Fell.
Someone's been defacing the posing board.
Old Man Signchanger didn't see who it was, but the weather report had a long drawn through it and the words "The weather was lovely" were written beside it. Scandalous, perfectly scandalous! Of course, the weather was perfectly lovely but how were they to mock the poor weather forecaster’s horrible predictions if it were corrected like that? And on top of that, someone drew something unspeakable crude all over that lovely post that Martha put up about whatever it is she goes on about. Really, does it matter what it was, it's gone now. Why, if it hadn't been for the children snickering over it, no one would have even noticed it! Why no, Martha, we all read your writing, just not when it's so dreadfully dull....
And speaking of scandals, the town was in a tizzy when a newly arrived Princess attempted to chop his own wood! And he asked for pants! A Princess in pants! Have you ever heard of such a ridiculous thing! At mention of it, another tailor in town made mention of an earlier incident where another Princess tried to trick him into making her pants. Why no, of course he didn't actually do it! Why, even if he had, he wouldn't ever admit to it... And no, the rumors of black market dresses with pants underneath and removable skirts are totally unfounded. (but if you should be interested in such a thing--)
In other, less social news, there sudden rash of criminal activity has continued! Coins capered! Swords stolen! Bodices burglarized! And not just by that pervert Tom! Residents are advised to keep a tight hand on their purse (though not so tight of a hand that they can't help out the Duck Man. Poor ole sod has to keep that foul fed!)
There's been a lack of sighting of the new darling Knight of Fire, which has many of the young ladies of the Kingdom tittering with what might have happened. Rumors of various fires being set (though no one can quite tell where) are only feeding those rumors, which rage from an epic death match with his good twin, the poor cursed Sage, to him being cursed himself by the creepy old Wizard of the Groaning Shack to have turned into flame himself and is wandering the city looking for those who can free him or those who have wronged him. [Or for his twin brother to wrap in flames of his forbidden passion, add in the swooning fangirls.]
And speaking of curses, all reports from those homes bordering the Totentanz mansion say that so far, all is still. Perhaps the Heroes won't wake it after all... What a disappointment!
