I hadn't thought of that. I think I know when you harvest stuff back home.

All right, I'm going to take a stab in the dark here.

January, February, March, April, stop me if this sounds familiar--

Same as home.

Well, that makes it easier.

So, we'll ask about the harvest and the solstices if anyone here keeps track of that. It may be more difficult to figure out our relative position on this planet, but we can just assume for the Northern hemisphere if we can't get a clear answer on that point.

Ughh, so northern hemisphere in this weather would mean it's not winter. I think.

Yes. If we can't figure it out, I think we should just assume we're in whatever hemisphere you're familiar with.

I'm used to the southern hemisphere. Which would make this fall-ish.

Then that's what we'll use if no one knows what we're talking about when we ask.

Where are you from?

Australia.

I went to New Zealand after graduate school. Just a short trip to see the fairy penguins.

[halfwitch]

Fairy penguins? What?

[tenuefarfalla]

Fairy Penguins, Blue Penguins? They're little and dark blue, kind of purplish, and they live in New Zealand and Australia. My best friend took me to see them to celebrate finishing our graduate work. I wanted to be a marine biologist back home.

[halfwitch]

But I've never heard of them. And I lived there.

[Gretel there are lot of things you've never heard of.]

They're there, I promise. I used to be a marine biologist. Here, hang on.

[She stops paying attention to the orb for a bit and stares at something in her lap. After a couple of minutes, she comes up with a remarkably good drawing of a little penguin, complete with a splash of indigo watercolour for accuracy.]

It's cute. Are they really that blue?

They really are.

[Cho is smiling when she says it. She thinks that maybe she likes Gretel.]
