The road leading to Schwanheim is quiet and pastoral, and oddly devoid of travelers... except for one.

A young woman, no older than 20, walking idly down the well kept road, looking almost smug as she surveys the land. She's dressed in a finery that isn't often seen outside the capital, smart looking red shoes on her feet, a thin gold bracelet at her wrist and an ornate jeweled pendent resting on the cream of her ribbon adorned dress; if it were not for the more practical nature of the clothing, one would think her more a princess than a hero.

She carries only a small bag over her shoulder and the air of something otherworldly about her. There would be no doubt in anyone's mind on seeing her that this indeed is someone special.

And no doubt in others mind that this is also someone dangerous.

She flashed a charming, though practiced smile. "I seek permission and blessing more than answers. I know what needs to be done. I only require his Majesty’s permission and acknowledgment so that I man do it."

Stephane was as used to practiced smiles as he was to waking up every morning, so he paid it no mind other than taking a mental note.

"Having the answers to their questions seems to be a privilege that very few can brag about, madam."

"Very few are chosen heroes," she replied with an air of smugness.

Being a 'chosen one'? That was totally not his thing, thank you very much.

"If that's the price, then I'm perfectly fine with being another lost idiot."

She laughed lightly. "And without the lost, there would be no need for heroes, as it were. So there is no shame in being lost."

"If anything, I'd think that it would be best for heroes to show the way to the lost ones, instead of them solving everything on their own. Everyone should be able to choose to be lost or be a hero." Suddenly it was all about fate and choice. Stephane's life kept going back to those topics, didn't it?

"Alas, there are few who can become heroes, through choice or fate."

"And then there are those who'd rather tell fate to suck it off." A chuckle.
