"Kori didn't do anything wrong!" the boy insisted, tone again shifting to be far more child like as a muffin popped into existence, flying off to just miss Ryo's shoulder. "Just did what was asked! Not bad!"
somewhatpointy: (Shock)

[personal profile] somewhatpointy 2012-06-04 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
The suddenly appearing muffin made Ryo jump; to say he wasn't expecting that would have been an understatement. "Now, look..." It suddenly occurred to Ryo that maybe, just maybe, that this actually was Kori...who had a tendency to speak of himself in the third person.

Awkward.

"..."

This just might make things more difficult.

"You're Kori, aren't you?"

[personal profile] littlemuffinmage 2012-06-04 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
The boy grinned, looking almost smug. "Of course." Back to the oddly pompous tone.
somewhatpointy: (Meh)

[personal profile] somewhatpointy 2012-06-04 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
Ryo sighed. Yep, he'd just gone and made things awkward...and these tone shifts were starting to annoy him. "Look, all I wanted was to ask you a question. A few of us have been having these odd dreams..."
littlemuffinmage: (Oooo...)

[personal profile] littlemuffinmage 2012-06-04 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
Sadly, the tone shifts were something Ryo would have to get used to, as yet again, Kori went back to the more childish voice. "Dreams?" he perked up, setting his book down. "What kind of dreams?"
somewhatpointy: (Default)

[personal profile] somewhatpointy 2012-06-04 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
Well, at least he had the kid's attention now. "Dreams that felt too real to be just dreams." Hopefully, the more information he offered, the more interested the kid would be...that would increase his chances of getting help. "I was fighting something in mine, and when I woke up, it felt as though I'd been doing it for real."
littlemuffinmage: (Candy Mountain?!)

[personal profile] littlemuffinmage 2012-06-04 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
"Kori had a dream like that too!" the boy nodded, reaching for a fresh muffin. "There was a magic Kori'd never seen before! That's what Kori's studying now!"
somewhatpointy: (Huh)

[personal profile] somewhatpointy 2012-06-04 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
Well, that was...surprising. Not like Ryo was arguing...although his not having seen the magic before was troubling. Then again, Kori himself was troubling enough without worrying about that. "Did you find anything yet?"
littlemuffinmage: (But the books say)

[personal profile] littlemuffinmage 2012-06-04 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
"There was a book by a person who could walk between dreams that talked about the creatures that dwelt in that world," Kori began, voice becoming more serious, but thankfully not taking on the pompous tone. "The creatures of that world were made of spirit, instead of being physical, and could bring those who had the energy to become spirit onto that plane of existence for a short while. This led to creatures who were of both worlds, physical and spirit, as well as more people who were able to walk through dreams. It's quite likely one of those creatures was near by and by passing through those who were just of the waking world were able to bring them into the world of the spirit for a short while, even if incompletely, which is why it was just as a dream."

[personal profile] somewhatpointy 2012-06-04 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
"I see..." Ryo looked very thoughtful at that. It was useful information. "Do you know who might have set one loose nearby?" He still didn't think of the beast at the party; it had been dead, after all...and he was still not sure the witch wasn't responsible.
littlemuffinmage: (Oooo...)

[personal profile] littlemuffinmage 2012-06-04 11:37 am (UTC)(link)
"They walk freely, more than people can, so there's no reason to suspect that it was made to go anywhere. It would take a reeeally powerful magic to do something like that!" His tone suddenly got more childish again. "Or someone who could talk to them who would ask them to do it, like the faeries do when Kori asks." He nodded sagely before taking a bite of muffin.

[personal profile] somewhatpointy 2012-06-05 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
"So it wandered in here on its own or someone asked it?" Ryo was trying very, very hard to resist the urge to comment on the fairy thing, because...fairies. He didn't want to be dealing with those on top of everything else. "So it could happen again?"
littlemuffinmage: (But the books say)

[personal profile] littlemuffinmage 2012-06-05 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
"Kori doesn't know! Kori would have to find it and ask it!"
somewhatpointy: (Meh)

[personal profile] somewhatpointy 2012-06-05 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
"Do you know how to find it? Or could I find it for you?" Really, anything to speed along the process of never having any of those crazy dreams again would be good...
littlemuffinmage: (Right because that makes sense)

[personal profile] littlemuffinmage 2012-06-06 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
"...you can't see those things," Kori pointed out with a child's bluntness.

[personal profile] somewhatpointy 2012-06-07 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
Ryo was starting to hit the limits to his patience with this conversation. "So is there anything I can do, or are you telling me that I've basically just got to sit around and wait for it to maybe happen again?"
littlemuffinmage: (But the books say)

[personal profile] littlemuffinmage 2012-06-07 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
Most people who dealt with the little mage on a regular basis would applaud him for lasting this long talking to him.

The boy blinked, head tilting slightly. "If you cannot control a beast, then of course you can only wait for its whims," he replied, tone stuffy once more. "You may as well ask about the rain!"
somewhatpointy: (Meh)

[personal profile] somewhatpointy 2012-06-07 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
Really, it ain't easy. The only thing that's been keeping Ryo this tolerant for this long has been the hope that he might actually get some answers. Since it seems those answers aren't forthcoming, Ryo's patience is waning fast.

"Alright, great. You've been a big help." There are amazing amounts of sarcasm dripping from this sentence. Huge amounts.
littlemuffinmage: (Surveying muffin mountain)

[personal profile] littlemuffinmage 2012-06-07 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
It helps to ask the right questions~

And sarcasm seems to be one of the many things Kori has no idea about. "Of course," he returned, still in pompous mode.
somewhatpointy: (Neutral)

[personal profile] somewhatpointy 2012-06-07 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
Sadly, Ryo's whole experience as to fighting monsters with odd powers involves "go out and punch it already," and he's not connected the dots enough to figure out that it might have something to do with the beast at the dance. He just wants something he knows how to deal with!

Ryo is unsurprised that the sarcasm didn't hit its mark. "Guess I should be going, then."
littlemuffinmage: (Oooo...)

[personal profile] littlemuffinmage 2012-06-07 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
"Yup!" Kori smiled before reaching for a new muffin and resuming his reading.
somewhatpointy: (Meh)

[personal profile] somewhatpointy 2012-06-08 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Ryo heaved an exasperated sigh. Best to get out of there before his patience reached its limits. Kori's lucky he's a kid; Ryo wouldn't have lasted nearly this long around an adult. "Alright, then." He turned to leave, figuring he'd just have to remain on guard for any more weird dreams.
