Orb Post | 1 | Arrival

[A young girl of around the age of sixteen appears and she seems pretty irritated.]

First, I wake up in an unknown place with an old man smiling down creepily at me beside my bed and in clothes that I swear I’ve never owned before.

[She mimics the old man, deepening her voice]

“Welcome Nikki, you must have questions.”

No, of course not. I just love being kidnapped, changed of my clothes without my consent, and being told that I have the responsibility to fulfill some sort of role as a Mage. [Sarcasm is just pouring from every word.]

For some reason, of all the questions he’s willing to answer, he won’t tell me how to control the fire coming out of nowhere.

[She moves the orb to the side and what’s seen is the bed behind her on fire]

Someone might want to come and douse it out.

Qualify... as a child? As a knight? As the innocent? Because I've got to agree with all of those.

And you're a knight? Something akin to King Arthur's knights?

[[finally comes skidding into the room with a sloshing bucket of water. NOW he's out of breath. Upper body strength, what is it?]]

As innocent. Anyone can see you're but a child.

I'm not familiar with any Arthur. My lord is King Jonathan of Tortall.

I am not but a child, but whatever.

So explain. What kind of knight are you? You don't just act pretty right? Because that would be one sad job as a knight.

[ Oh hey there Bakura. Alanna nods at him. ] Sorry, you're a bit late.

[ And as for you, Nikki: ]

I am the King's Champion of Tortall. When I'm not required to "act pretty" [ because ugh that is the worst part of her job ] it is my sworn duty to protect the innocent and guard over the land. If that means educating children like you in the use of magic so that you don't burn this kingdom to the ground, so be it.

[[Well, at least the fire was out. He's just... going to carefully set the bucket down now. And shake out his poor left arm and hand. Ow.]]

[She can't help but snicker at Bakura's misfortune.]

Well, thanks anyway. If you want, I could attempt to set something else on fire for that water to be put into use.

[She's still grinning and snickering as she talks to Alanna. This time though, she's grinning at the fact that Alanna's job description includes 'acting pretty'.]

Why do you have to act pretty?

[ Because Jonathan likes to see her squirm? No, it's one of those old rules. ]

I represent my King and my Kingdom. [ She'll just leave out the 'at formal events' bit. It's kind of assumed, right? ]

Bakura, would you help me explain to this delusional girl that if she continues to play with fire, she's going to get burned?

Eh? [[blink blink. Sorry, he was kinda concentrating on his hand a moment.]] Aaa-- you mean being careful with her powers, if they're fire...?

I didn't know you cared so much about me. How sweet.

[She rolls her eyes at the other girl.]

So the women get to act pretty even if they're knights. What a fascinating role you have there. What a wonderful and thoughtful job presented to you. It seems that you're still just a female to the kingdom.

[She turns to Bakura]

You're kind of like Jude, you know? Except you don't constantly say dude.

[ Oh my god she is surrounded by morons. ]

Goddess, I give up. You can all go ahead and get yourselves killed, if that's what you really want.

[[just blinks, wondering what he did wrong ~~this time~~. He'll just... be quiet for now.]]

Naw. What I really want is for you to get off your high horse and to stop your preaching to your Goddess.

You have not heard the beginnings of preaching, child.

[ She turns to storm out of the room, leaving some strange purplish mist behind her. ]

[[Oh dear...]]

Aaaa... She's really mad, isn't she...

No. She's trailing mist and storming out because she wants to show us she's part of the rainbow.

... [[He can't help but make a face at that. This would go well..]]

You didn't get hurt or anything with the fire, I hope?
