[A young girl of around the age of sixteen appears and she seems pretty irritated.]

First, I wake up in an unknown place with an old man smiling down creepily at me beside my bed and in clothes that I swear I’ve never owned before.

[She mimics the old man, deepening her voice]

“Welcome Nikki, you must have questions.”

No, of course not. I just love being kidnapped, changed of my clothes without my consent, and being told that I have the responsibility to fulfill some sort of role as a Mage. [Sarcasm is just pouring from every word.]

For some reason, of all the questions he’s willing to answer, he won’t tell me how to control the fire coming out of nowhere.

[She moves the orb to the side and what’s seen is the bed behind her on fire]

Someone might want to come and douse it out.

You make it sound as if I'm trapped in the room.

There is such a thing as stepping out of the room when the fire starts spreading, you know?

[Nikki looks behind her. The fire seems to have died down and all that's left is a charred bed.]

Well, it looks like it won't be spreading. Yippee.

Not you. The one who gave you that. The powers that run this world delight in gifts to those who have earned nothing, proven nothing, know nothing.

And I suppose you have earned something, proven something, and know something.

Well, if it's a gift, who am I to refuse it?

In a thousand years of life, I should hope I know something.

Well, besides the fact that sounds like an exaggeration of how long you've been alive, I suppose you should know something. However, that something may be useless nonetheless.

Maybe you should leave the room and allow the castle staff to handle the fire.

Fine by me. It's starting to get a little stuffy in here anyway.

[Hopefully the castle staff will be competent enough to handle that. He believes they are. ]

I am constantly being told that I should act like a Prince, which is funny since I have only heard of the one Kingdom.

[She snickers]

Oh, a Prince. Should I bow before you then if I see you?

[She grins]

Do you not act like a Prince? What are Princes supposed to act like?

Bow to me? Oh no, please don't bother.

[The idea is funny to him too really. ]

There are too many people who do that already. It really is troublesome.

To be honest I am not sure what they expect a Prince to act like. I really have never bothered to ask. I have no idea whether I will fulfill their expectations or entirely disappoint them.

It is, if anything, an underestimate. Though mortals reckon time in such smaller pieces.

Get out of there, you Gods-cursed fool, before you set something else aflame and bring the whole blasted castle down on us.

[ Oh yes she is marching up there now to help put out the fire. ]

[She's trying to figure out if you're actually genuinely a nice guy or if you're just boasting about the number of people who bow down to you already.]

Right. Sure. I won't bother at all, trust me.

Aren't there the typical tasks such as saving the damsel in distress? Or slaying the dragons?

I'm not encouraging you to do those things, by the way. A Princess could do those things just as well and it's not like a Prince is absolutely needed for those things.

If I am higher, it is by blood and family. By age, among you children.

And by power.

Well, if the old man had been willing to answer my questions, I'd be controlling my magic just fine.
