Day Change: the 16th of Rebirth's Height
Today is the 16th day of the Height of the Season of Rebirth in the 137th Year Since the Wall Fell. The bulletin board has finally been all cleaned up from all the graffiti and general unpleasantness from that whole moon shards mess. The guy who's in charge of it is keeping his stick, mind you. No funny business on his watch!
The board is also full of lots of small apologies, notices of missing things, a few of them husbands and children (at least one of those notices has a scrawled 'I ain't coming back!' on it,) and plenty of ads both offering and asking for carpentry and repair services. The blacksmith is especially busy, with the disappearance of the second one that had only just set up shop. Rumors have spread like wildfire what happened to the newer one, ranging from a bloody battle to the death under the sway of the artificial new moon to a secret eloping with one of the other heroes. As there are quite a few heroes who have left the town, the list of who the other half of the pair was is rather diverse and seems not at all contingent on gender. The more rational of the towns folk (all five of them) have the far more sensible idea that maybe he got off his lazy hero ass and went to do something about those dang thorns. You know, those things that the King had them summoned to deal with? But as often is the case in these gossip circles, the sane people are quickly shut up and shunned in favor of the far more interesting rumors.
And speaking of interesting rumors, the strange old magic peddler has been sighted on the outskirts of town again with his questionable wares. All are advised to take caution on spotting him and to keep their children away, lest they buy something and wind up unwittingly planting another beanstalk or find themselves set on an epic quest that's far better left to those summoned heroes.
Today's weather is forecast to be sunny. No wait, raining. No, no wait. Both. Sometimes at the same time. The forecaster apologizes for his useless predictions and is taking collections to get himself a new crystal ball.
