This would be a familiar scene to most; Mytho standing in the middle of town, a bird perched on his outstretched hand, others fluttering about him. The crown was also to be expected, but while at first glance, it looked as if he had finally been dressed to his princely standard, the top of his tapered down in to a long flowing skirt of white and deep blue with gold accents.

It would seem the prince had been given the roll of princess in this new world...

As Fakir had answered the question, Mytho had gotten distracted by one of the birds fluttering around. Holding up his hand, he waited for one to land on his fingers.

It didn't take too long.

She decided, for the moment, that it would be better not to mention the fact that the birds kept talking about Mytho as "the new girl". But with that distraction behind her, the strange twisting feeling took hold again. Duck bit her lip and glanced from Rue to Mytho to Fakir again, unconsciously knotting her fingers together.

"There's always the castle," she murmured, rather lamely.

Rue smiled uneasily, her grip not-so-subtly tightening on Mytho's hand.

"Of course," she said. "He'll be staying with me."

"I think we should all stay together," Fakir said, a note of finality in his voice as he looked between them. He was dismayed to realize that, once you put them both in big fluffy dresses, it wasn't that easy to tell which of them was actually a girl. "This is a dangerous place, after all."

As if in response to Rue's possessive body language, Duck moved a little closer to Fakir, linking her hands loosely around his wrist. It was more for comfort than anything else--she always felt just a bit stronger when he was around to support her, even if he was harsh about it--and to reassure herself that there was at least one person here who didn't make her heart feel all... complicated.

"I agree. If we stick together, then we can all take care of each other. Right?"

"I suppose that's alright," Rue said, still watching Mytho's face for any signs of life. "We'll just stay in my room, and you two can take the ones next to it."

"Nobody needs to share rooms," Fakir said sharply.

"Are you trying to tell me I can't share a room with my own husband?" Rue asked in outrage, turning suddenly to him.

"She won't hurt him, Fakir!"

Duck wasn't sure why she blurted that out as suddenly and with as much conviction as she did. But her hands tightened on Fakir's wrist, and somehow even when she said it she knew it was the absolute truth.

"Did I say that she would?" Fakir hissed, totally dismissing Rue. "No. I said that no one would be sharing rooms. That's all."

"Why not?" Rue asked, a little less confrontational now that Duck had taken up for her. "He can't take care of himself when he's... like this, so he'll need somebody with him."

"So we should probably all stay close to each other," Duck put in, still grasping Fakir's wrist. "You don't have to share a room with anybody, but we can all take turns watching over him if we need to."

"...I suppose that's fine," Rue said reluctantly. "Tonight, though, he should stay with me."

Fakir frowned and his hand hung limp in Duck's grasp. "I'm sure you've missed him."
