1st Reading ❂ Day 7 ❂ Arrival in a Foreign Land

[Since she’d arrived here Brietta had managed to find some sign of civilization it just wasn’t the sort of civilization she expected. She’d found a little town that didn’t look like it belonged in the same era as Polymagic University. Someone had kindly mentioned that one could communicate using the orbs much like they did through the electronic journals back at school… with the exception that the orbs could also transmit video. She found some amusement in how the magical orb had surpassed the electronic technology but it wasn‘t enough to allay the more pressing concerns. She gently plucked it off her necklace and tentatively began her message.]

Pardon me….

[She raised a fist to her lips and looked quite unsure of herself]

.. But could anyone tell me where I am? I.. must have gotten lost.. Somehow.

[Dropping her hand back to her side, she tacked on]

I would appreciate any information. Thank you.

We're all stuck here and expected to rescue a place that doesn't give a rat's ass about us.

So.. this is some sort of other dimension? Or is it just another place on Earth?

The first one. I'm pretty sure this isn't earth. I talked to the king. he's useless.

[Yes, Brietta hadn't noticed that large castle over there yet]

Is he the one that brought us here?

I...think? I can't actually remember what he said now.

_{[JW goes quiet. Maybe HE'S the useless one.]}

Anyway, it sucks.

[Thus the line of questioning reached a deadend. It was hard to believe that she was actually trapped in some other dimension.. but she had seen the book, and had seen it cast some sort of spell.]

That may be an understatement.

If enough of us wind up here, maybe we should start some kinda revolt.

[She's actually not going to rule out that possibility though she really... would like to avoid confrontation]

We.. should learn everything we can.

There's a library in the castle.

_{[He leans out of the orb's view for a moment to fetch up a thick book with nothing but SPELLS on the cover.]}

Don't know how useful it is though. It's there.

[Brietta couldn't help herself. Thinking about the castle intrigued her quite a bit. There could be answers there... but.. there could also be riches untold.. ]

Then perhaps I will drop by there.

[For purely innocent reasons... not for stealing anything. Cough]

Do they let just anyone in?

[While not the best actress... she had managed to fool enough people at the university to keep herself from being barred from the premises]

So far.. no one seems to know anything. It's quite strange.

[She couldn't help but wonder.. would the students back at the university rally to find her as they did Professor Ash? Ah.. but she hoped to return before she was missed]

I get the feeling they are as much in th dark as we are. This place is very different after all.

Do you know why we've been brought here, or who is behind it?

From what I've heard, I think it was that idiot King. We're supposed to fight for balance between chaos and order or some sort of nonsense like that.

This is the second time I've heard the king referenced in such a manner.. [Maybe he really was an idiot?]

If they think we're all just going to cooperate then I'm afraid they are sorely mistaken.
