1st Reading ❂ Day 7 ❂ Arrival in a Foreign Land

[Since she’d arrived here Brietta had managed to find some sign of civilization it just wasn’t the sort of civilization she expected. She’d found a little town that didn’t look like it belonged in the same era as Polymagic University. Someone had kindly mentioned that one could communicate using the orbs much like they did through the electronic journals back at school… with the exception that the orbs could also transmit video. She found some amusement in how the magical orb had surpassed the electronic technology but it wasn‘t enough to allay the more pressing concerns. She gently plucked it off her necklace and tentatively began her message.]

Pardon me….

[She raised a fist to her lips and looked quite unsure of herself]

.. But could anyone tell me where I am? I.. must have gotten lost.. Somehow.

[Dropping her hand back to her side, she tacked on]

I would appreciate any information. Thank you.

Near castle. Small village. Woods. Hills. Beanstalk.

Beanstalk? I'm sorry but you aren't making much sense.

[Faolan considered for a moment. then tried to make it clearer]

Big vine. Goes up and up and up.

[She knew what a beanstalk was, but not why it was relevant. This person sort of reminded her of Thuvos..]

Mm yes, they tend to. It must be an impressive beanstalk to warrant such attention.

Yes. [This is very definite] Snow and Loki were interested.

Snow and Loki? Were they brought here too? Have we all been kidnapped from our respective worlds?

[greatsquirrelhunter]

Yes. [The answer to both of those questions is delivered with a decided nod.]

Snow is grandmother. Loki is friend.

[She was pleased that Faolan was so willing to answer questions]

At least you are not alone.

[Though personally.. Brietta was used to being alone she'd grown accustomed to her new friends being there from the University]

And who are you?

[He sometimes forgets to introduce himself]

I'm Faolan. No one has to be alone!

[She sometimes forgets to ask]

I'm Brietta Sullivan.

[greatsquirrelhunter]

[He sometimes remembers basic manners among humans. Or situations where you can't just sniff people.]

Faolan caught a squirrel.

A squirrel?

[Oh.. probably the last thing Brietta wants to hear about since they were up to their eyeballs in squirrels recently.. back at the university. Hopes it was no one she knew... but surely.. it was just a normal squirrel. Right?]

It.. seemed like a regular squirrel, right? It didn't try to communicate with you like a human would.. did it?

[This reply confuses Faolan, who gives Brietta a funny look.] No.

Oh.. uh.. course it didn't.

[Oh great, now I seem crazy]

[greatsquirrelhunter]

[Well, it's not like he holds onto an idea long. He's 10, and possibly a little ADHD. Plus, it's loads more fun to talk about squirrels than the fact that you're weird.]

[He perks up again.]

Squirrel flailed and ran away when I let go.
