[Log] West Haven

Characters: All on the road to West Haven
Open? Yep
Where: Starting at the gate of Schwanheim, on the way to and in West Haven
When: The 5th of Rebirth's Height

It was a clear morning, a touch warmer than the previous days, a sign that Rebirth was progressing along. For the more superstitious of Schwanheim's residents, it seemed a good omen for the heroes' journey to the unfortunate town of West Haven. Of course with how the weather of Rebirth ran, it might be pouring rain by the time they left the gates but that was Rebirth for ya.

[[OoC: this log will be split into 3 parts/sub threads. You don't have to tag the preparations or travel threads to arrive at West Haven.]]

Rue was later than the others in arriving, looking flustered and irritated as she made her way towards the gathered crowd, a flock of crows inconspicuously following overhead. After being told no one would drive a carriage out there she was quite unhappy, considering she had never ridden a horse in her life. Still, she needed to get rid of those birds, so, swallowing her nervousness, she approached what she deemed the friendliest-looking mare, grabbing a hold of its reins with an uneasy look.

Fakir noticed the crows before he noticed Rue.

"Ah, there's our princess now," he said.

"Don't sound so disrespectful," Rue snapped, turning away briefly as she struggled to get her satin slippers into the stirrups. That maid who said this was a riding costume was absolutely lying.

"I was being personable," Fakir said. "And you should have worn boots, unless you plan on sitting on your horse all day. And even then..."

"I couldn't find any," she said huffily. The horse stepped forward suddenly, nearly sending her stumbling into the mud. "The maid insisted these were proper riding shoes for a princess."

"Did you tell her we weren't just taking a ride around the grounds for fun?" Fakir asked, looking her up and down. "For that matter, have you ever ridden a horse before?"
schrien_die_raben: (not embarassed I assure you)

"...I haven't needed to," Rue admitted, allowing a slight blush to come to her cheeks. She couldn't stand it, but this was something she would need his help on. "And it can't be so hard, can it?"

Fakir pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed. "Rue, are you familiar with the idea that part of dancing well is making it look effortless? Everything done by experienced people looks easier than it actually is."

"I know that," she said, a little subdued. It was embarrassing enough that she didn't know how to ride, he didn't have to behave so exasperatedly toward her. "But everyone here rides. So I at least assumed it was something one could learn quickly."
