[Log] West Haven
Characters: All on the road to West Haven
Open? Yep
Where: Starting at the gate of Schwanheim, on the way to and in West Haven
When: The 5th of Rebirth's Height
It was a clear morning, a touch warmer than the previous days, a sign that Rebirth was progressing along. For the more superstitious of Schwanheim's residents, it seemed a good omen for the heroes' journey to the unfortunate town of West Haven. Of course with how the weather of Rebirth ran, it might be pouring rain by the time they left the gates but that was Rebirth for ya.
[[OoC: this log will be split into 3 parts/sub threads. You don't have to tag the preparations or travel threads to arrive at West Haven.]]

His eyes lift to the stranger. "And I suppose you are another of the 'heroes'."

Apparently anyone pulled here from their own world was considered a hero by the townspeople. Eagle himself didn’t really care for the title, preferring instead the one he had earned on his own world.
“I am Commander Eagle Vision from Autozam.” With a smile Eagle added, “It is a pleasure to meet you…?”
And he paused for his apparent traveling companion to supply his own name.

"Loki," he said. "Liesmith, Silvertongue, God of Mischief and Prince of Asgard."
As ever, liesmith was his favorite. He enjoyed the thought that lies were forged in fire and coal, hot wind and hard hammer-strikes. Not at all true, of course; lies were woven fine and sweet as spun-sugar. But who was Loki to discard such a lovingly chosen name?

None of this registered on Eagle’s face however. The only thing Loki was able to see was that jovial relaxed smile of his.
“Have you decided to fight for these people like we are apparently supposed to do or were you just curious about those missing villagers?”
no subject
No. He had his chance here to start again.
Loki was Asgard's last resort, all too often. When justice had been abandoned, and all that was left was need. When they would not give up their daughters to giants, when they would steal back what had been stolen from them. The pieces of a god's history that they would rather forget.
He could be that no longer. No more shadows.
"A warrior could do no other." Said soft, but true. The question that remained to be seen, of course, was whether Loki, on his own, without Thor, after all he'd done, could be a warrior.

A warrior could do no other. It was a nice thought but not always true. People always fought for their own reasons. Still, it really was a nice thought that a warrior would feel obligated to assist people in trouble.
“I hope we will be able to do something for them as well.”
‘Disappeared’ didn’t necessarily mean gone forever. If this was magic then breaking the spell might be enough and if it was something else… well, they would just have to face it once they arrived.
no subject
Which, in general, irritated Loki no end. But, now, it felt clean.
"We won't know until we arrive."
His eyes fixed on Eagle, once more weighing him. He looked to his posture, the way he moved, whether he held himself as warrior, deceiver, peacemaker. Loki made quick judgments.

Based just on those things he didn’t appear much like a warrior at all, but Loki was no doubt a bit more observant than most people. Most obviously Eagle had admitted to being a Commander and a Commander must have some skill with battle or they never would have attained that rank, unless the position had some how been bought. He did wear a sword, as many people in this world did, but it didn’t seem entirely ungainly on him as it did some of the others. Swords were a less often used weapon on his world but he still had some knowledge of them. It really wasn’t too dissimilar from a laser sword anyway.
His regal outfit suggested he held some kind of rank on this world but he didn’t bother treating the servants as if they were lower class than himself. In fact he went so far as to apologize to one of the stable hands who clearly had bumped into him before he continued the little introductory conversation he and Loki were having.
“No, I don’t suppose we will. It is only too bad there wasn’t more information about this. Anything could be waiting for us out there.”
And was that a touch of excitement in his voice?
“Anyway, I should wish you good luck. It really was very nice to meet you.”
