Full Moon Is In The Sky

What: Selene is a wolf for three days, whether she likes it or not.
Warnings: Possibly a little surly, especially on the 16th. May result in...hmm...minor violence.



The castle's staff was abuzz with gossip on the morning of the 16th. The cursed princess had been caught ransacking the larder, and as the cook told it, she was eating a great chunk of beef raw when it happened. Even more, she was said to be snapping at just about everyone she saw, quite unusual. Most of them agreed she'd retreated to her rooms, but even the maids that took pride in their stoic dispositions weren't willing to check in on her, so no one could be completely sure she was still in there.

As if that wasn't bad enough, someone claims they saw a wolf walking through the castle mid-afternoon. No, the guards said the same thing! One of them even claimed to have let the beast out of the castle, after it spent several minutes making it quite clear it wanted through the door he was guarding! By the evening, the whole town was talking about the monster, sneaking through the alleys and growling at anyone who came too close! Surely, there was some hero who was supposed to be handling such things, right? That was what they got paid for, or whatever.

Though many people claimed sighting well into the next morning, by noon on the 17th, no one could make a credible claim at having seen the wolf since the old beggar woman who haunted the market gate swore to anyone who would listen (or not run away, at least) that some terrible monster had gone past her and made for the two-faced forest. Of course, she also claimed it had a child in its mouth at the time. Or maybe just a chicken. She wasn't going to stand around and double-check!





[OOC: Chose the date with your thread. On the 16th, in the morning, Selene is still human. From that afternoon on, she is a wolf. Faolan and Kay would recognize her, but everyone else probably wouldn't, unless they see the change itself. She will be wearing her orb, so people might recognize the wolf as a hero, at least.]

Let's go with the 16th, late afternoon

Bakura blinked as he spotted the wolf slipping through the streets of the capital.

"This really happens far too often..." he mused aloud before starting after it. "Wonder who it is this time..." Since Loki was gone, Faolan was too little for it to b him and it didn't look like the man-wolf who had helped him in the ice maze...

16th, late afternoon

The wolf was sticking to the less crowded areas of town, and avoiding the gates altogether, mostly because of the number of people around them most of the day. So when Bakura started to follow the wolf, it didn't take terribly long for the thing to notice.

So coming around a corner, Bakura would suddenly find himself almost face to face with the creature, since it was the size of a pony, and thus pretty tall when it sat down. Golden-brown eyes regarded the stalker, and the wolf's head tipped to the side. A whine, and a couple tail wags, hopefully indicated that Selene didn't want trouble; but if someone was planning on a wolf-hunt, well. She had a pack to protect, too, and damn anyone who thought she'd be a pushover.

He startled at first, on coming face to face with her (who wouldn't!) but at the almost Faolan like actions, he relaxed, smiling. "Hey. Did you get transformed? Or something like it?"

Since even in this place, there was no way this was a normal wolf.

Selene considered him for a moment. Talking. Well, that was all fine and good, but she was rather bad a charades, damn it. A huff, and then she slowly shook her head back and forth a few times, and then nodded a couple of times. She was trying to say, 'Sort of.'

Bakura blinked. "Something complicated that can't be covered with a yes or no?" he guessed.

A single bark. Good enough. Selene stood up and stretched, then hook herself off. Another huff, and she looked Bakura over. Wagging her tail, she decided to be friendly (and also, incidentally, make sure he knew just how big a wolf she really was), so she trotted over and nosed his hand. Besides, she didn't really want him putting together the moon and her condition, if it could be helped.

Bakura blinked at first, before giving a warm laugh, reaching up to rub behind her ears. "I'm glad that you're friendly. I think I'd be in a lot of trouble if you weren't. But it seems like most of the time when there's a wild animal in the capital, it's not what it seems to be."

Hmm, that was an interesting twist. Selene wondered how long she might be able to use that to her advantage. She sat, letting him scratch her ear and pretending that she didn't mind acting like a good dog (though...mmmm...it did feel good). She even did her best to look interested, in case there was anything more he had to say on the subject: ears perked, head tilted slightly, and eyes watching Bakura intently.

"I wonder what your story is..." Bakura mused as he continued rubbing behind her ears. "One of us 'heroes' I'd guess. Since I don't think any of the villagers would try and clarify anything about being transformed. They'd likely just be over dramatic in their yes, ne?"

Selene eyed him for a moment, then barked, softly. She shook herself off, snorted, and then sat down in front of him. Another soft bark, and then another snort. As if any of the local cretins would be able to stand on four paws, let alone whine about it.

Bakura covered a small laugh. "Now I know you're not local, if you agree," he smiled.

Times like this he really missed Matsuka... and Ben. When he had been transformed back in the City, they both had known what he was thinking, Ben through the Force and Matsuka with his telepathy. Not that he had ever had either of those things, but being in this situation always reminded him...

Selene had no one like that she missed, at the moment. In fact, she was more happy than she knew that there weren't people who could read her mind in anyway, because the truth of the matter was that Selene was simply no good at covering her tracks. She relied on people misjudging her to hide her more colorful background more than anything else.

She regarded Bakura solemnly, ear flicking as she considered what to do with him. Briefly, she considered eating him, but disregarded it after a moment; she wasn't really that hungry. She looked past him, but whoever was coming past didn't look in their direction, so she didn't move. With a sigh, she turned her attention back to Bakura, tipping her head to the side.

"...Something the matter?"

Selene licked her chops, looking at Bakura, and then slowly shook her head. 'No.' After a moment, she snorted, mostly at herself, and nodded. 'Yes.' Maybe a little of both, because while she could still become a wolf, she was trapped in this godforsaken little hole, and everything. She sighed, a touch forlorn.

"Something complicated that you can't explain with just yes or no?" Bakura guessed with a faint smile.

Oh! Faolan saw Selene! Hello, Selene! He trotted over to her, tail wagging with happiness. Time to hunt, Selene? Time to play? He bounced around her, barking questions.

Faolan didn't exactly catch her by surprise, and as he bounced around her, she swatted halfheartedly at him. Still, her ears were perked, and her tail wagging, and it didn't take long before she gave him a little urf and hopped back, head low to the ground. Smelling people who were werewolves just didn't quite match spending time with wolves. And yes, kiddo, it was time to play.

Hooray! Faolan pounced, attempting to climb Selene and gnaw one of her ears.

Selene rolled onto her side as he pounced, but let him attack her ear. She barked, and tried to get a paw under him to knock him off.

Faolan rolled away with a squeak, but quickly regain his feet. Tail wagging out of control, he lowered his head to growl playfully.

Selene rolled back onto her feet and gave a playful pounce in his direction, nipping at his ear one moment, then trying to knock him head-over-heels with her nose the next.
