GHB 9 | [Orb]
[Oh, look, it's Gunpei. He's out in the forest somewhere and he's looking more agitated than usual. Part of the reason just might be that behind him is a monster that, at the moment, is about the size of a tree. At least it doesn't look like it's doing anything other than rocking back and forth and gazing around the area.
Even if it is terrifying beyond all reason. When Gunpei speaks, he's trying to be as quiet as possible, and he keeps glancing back over his shoulder to check on the terrifying beast. He can't be worried about it spotting him; he's clearly in its line of sight. He just doesn't want it to hear him, and he would have posted a notice on the bulletin board asking for help, but Ole Man Signchanger's mother-in-law chased him away with a broom when he tried. It seemed not even a Prince could get away with "gossip" under her watch.]
Okay, I...I found this thing. And it's...
[He hesitates for a moment here.]
Well, watch.
[And he will break out into the chorus of "Don't Stop Believin'" at a normal volume. Singing is clearly not his strong suit, and he'll stop after a couple of lines because it seems the monster is responding to his song. It's no longer about the size of a tree, it is the size of a tree. It's rubbing up against the side of a tree now, looking like it's going to scratch an itch, and it knocks the tree over. The tree makes a loud crashing sound when it hits the ground, and at that noise, the monster gets just a little bit bigger. Gunpei is speaking in hushed tones again.]
Sounds. I've figured out it responds to sounds. It was shrinking a little when there were some birds singing out here, but then it ate the birds. Pleasant sounds make it quiet down, but if it doesn't like what it hears, it gets big. Really big. It was kind of tiny when I first found it...
[He takes a deep breath and then lets it out again like he's trying to calm himself down, but it's clear he's still quite freaked out about this. Building-sized monsters are something he's used to, but he's also used to having giant mecha to blow them up with.]
Is anyone out there a musician? I need to find someone really good--that would probably get this thing down to a manageable size. Just throwing random noises at it is getting kind of dangerous. We need to find the best singer here and let them at this thing.

[Because LOOK AT THIS THING IT IS HORRIBLE. And oops, Gunpei freaked out a little too loudly. The monster's just a teeny bit bigger now.]

I'm going to be getting everyone together in town so we can decide who's best suited to take this thing on. It'll be tomorrow before I've got things ready. Is that okay with you?

[At least, he doesn't think so now. Just wait until the townspeople catch wind of what he's up to...]

Peeta will not be hanging out close by to listen. Of course.]

You are wrong. ♥]

[Which is her way of saying that she can sing and she'll help. Because she sure doesn't feel up to attacking the thing right now.]

[He sounds hopeful.]
Have you ever taken care of anything like that?!
[In the background, the monster is kind of bouncing around and doing a bit of a dance of some sort, which appears to be causing minor earth tremors given the way Gunpei just fell down on his butt.]

Yeah, yeah, that sounds great.
[He runs a hand through his hair and casts another glance back at the monster.]
I'm going to get everyone together to try to figure out how best to go at this thing. Together, we can pool resources and talents to get the best group to take care of that monster.

[He's trying to answer these questions as calmly as possible but still seems a little wound up.]
Anything louder than a normal speaking voice seems to set it off as far as getting bigger goes. It hasn't moved much--it's just sitting there so far.
[Okay, actually, it's rolling around in the background kind of cooing to itself. At least it's not reacting to the sound of its own voice.]
no subject
Can you tell me about where you are?
no subject
[Not that he looks pleased at the idea of trying to move the thing.]
It's in the Two-Faced Forest, I'm not sure exactly where. There was, ahhhh, I guess you could say there was a bit of a chase and I kind of lost track of where we ended up.

[There is a grin that accompanies that. Poor thing thinks he's famous.]

[She enunciates it carefully, to make sure she is saying it correctly.]
Very well.
[The view shifts as she starts to work with something on her arm, the only thing visible in the orb the ceiling of whatever room she's in.]
You said it was the Two-Faced Forest, correct?
no subject
Yeah, I was trying for a bit of exploring, and I found this weird little monster...and then it started getting bigger.
no subject
[She doesn't seem to be listening, really, or even watching the orb. After a few moments, though, she makes a triumphant little noise.]
There you are. Next to a tree with black and white bark, a knot about eye level. Right?
[Because that's not creepy.]
no subject
Yeah, that's where I am...

[He's trying. Really, he is. He's just a naturally loud guy...]
no subject
I think I can find you, but I won't be able to get out there right away. I'll try to be as quick as possible.
no subject
I'm not going anywhere.

[The orb goes blank a moment later.]
