[ The orb floats above him and Loki regards it with calm regality, with impassive green eyes. ]

A small thing… but well-crafted. The magic is strong.

[ He settles back: lounging, tense and casual. ]

I hear we have a community of heroes. Please; show yourselves. I am Loki -- [ and here his tongue trips, for the first time. A blink, a falter. ] -- Odinson, from Asgard realm, and I am ever so eager to make your acquaintance.

[[Oh hey. This guy looks... kinda familiar? Someone who'd been in the City perhaps? ...though he was sure that he would have noticed if someone from-- no, no, be honest Bakura, considering the elves, shikigami, Jedi and formerly giant space robots that were your good friends back there, not to mention Godzilla and Darth Vader's guest appearances... no, just someone who was from myth and legend would not have stuck out.

[ And there is no hint of mockery in his tone when he responds.

And any good trainer would tell you that heroism is in the heart, not the body.

[[It is a pretty silly hat. But he rather likes it, all the same. Socially accepted LARPing!]]

Un. [[nods]] The body can be trained, the heart is what you have, ne?

[ A strange flicker, in Loki's expression. ]

Aa-- sorry! Bakura Ryou! [[gives a small bow of his head, one hand going up to make sure the hat doesn't fall off from it's precarious perch on his poof of hair.]] Nice to meet you!

Yes; a pleasure.

And what role do you fill in this place?

[shiromadoushi]

Aaa-- I'm a White Mage. [[Looks a bit happily embarrassed at this]] Healing and white magic, if nothing's changed.

[sorcerous]

[ There, a hint of a smile. ]

Then I greet you, as another versed in the arcane arts.

Here, they call me a wizard, it seems.

[shiromadoushi]

Still learning, more than really versed! [[protests with a smile. He'd really had no luck getting anyone to teach him anything with his magic when he'd gotten it back in the City, even more so when it stopped being D&D magic and more "real" magic...]]

So is a wizard more a wide spread of magic user, then? Since everywhere uses different names for the same things, it seems.

I had a great many abilities in my own world. I... it seems that the transition has sapped my strength. Perhaps in time it will return.

I suppose now I don't know my limits.

But I am a shape-shifter, illusion-caster, sorcerer and spellworker.

Heeeeeh? Really? [[Looking very genuinely impressed. Even with his own magic, other people who had a more 'natural' magic (read: that already had it before they were dragged to another world) were still amazing]] That's really cool! Is it just one shape you can change to, or the more unlimited type where you can be anything?

[sorcerous]

I do have my preferred forms...

[ He remembers Angrboda, and the magical forest where he first met the giantess -- she was enthusiastic too, when she found out what Loki could do. And felt just as foreign then as it does now.

Magic. A worthy art, in this place, perhaps. ]

[[a nod. That made sense. Like how people had a preferred way to look, just more so!]] Are you still you when you shift? [[a pause]] Aaa-- if it's not rude of me to ask, sorry! [[says with a small, apologetic laugh]] I don't mean to pry or anything like that.

A ... complicated question. More complicated than you know.

Aaa- sorry. [[looking so sheepish]] I had a friend where I was before here who could change into a few forms, so I was wondering if it was similar to what he could do. Didn't mean to pry!

[sorcerous]

How would you know what questions are the complicated ones? -- I do not take offense.

[shiromadoushi]

[[smiles, looking a touch relieved. He's unfortunately prone to saying the wrong thing at the wrong time (or to just be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Such was always his luck...)]] Aa, I'm glad!

[sorcerous]

Know you, then, that this is not my natural form, that I am not in the least human.

And I do retain my mind in full when I transform.

Really? What are you normally, then? [[rather curious there. As he had made very good friends with some giant robots in human form before, it wasn't too surprising. (Though he was pretty sure this person wasn't Cybertronian. He liked to think he was pretty good at picking up the signs of that!]]

Normally? Does this look abnormal, to you?

[ Excuse him while he dances around the question. ]

Aaa-- like the usual thing you would be, I mean! What you would be originally. Though I guess it wouldn't be anything too drastically different if you think looking human is normal, ne?

[[a warm smile there. Not like with any of the Transformers or even Kogenta-kun, who always grumped about having to be human, that was for sure!]]

Perhaps I prefer a form that isn't mine.

[ Is that right? Does he prefer this to the night-blue skin of a Frost Giant? The creeping tattoos, the red eyes...

But, does he prefer this? A reminder of the lies of the Aesir.

[[a small nod]] Un.. I guess if you can change to be anything, you could chose your ideal, ne? And make that be the you you wanted everyone to see.

[[Idly, he muses what he would change if he could... Maybe someone with muscles, black hair, maybe a tan... or he could actually make himself look Japanese and fit in with everyone back home...]]

[ An exhale. The knowledge that he did that, even as a child, as a squalling infant, is a bit too much for Loki at the moment.

He changes the subject. ]

How old are you? How long have you trained in magic?

[shiromadoushi]

Aaa-- [[rubs the back of his neck a little, feeling a bit embarrassed and like he was prying again.]] Just 20. [[though really, he doesn't at all feel like an adult]] And I've only had magic a little over 2 years now, though I wouldn't really say I've been really training it for very long. Beatrice-san was trying to teach me some things, but... [[trails off slightly before shaking his head.]]

I've been mostly figuring it out on my own, which is why I'm not very good at it. [[again, that utterly sheepish look]] I mostly just have practice with healing and shielding with it.
