 I haven't been able to get in contact with the woman who wanted to throw a party. The locals tell me she's gone home. Thing is, I've already done most of the baking, so if you guys don't mind, I'd still like to host a small get together. 

We can have it at the Mockingjay, unless there's going to be a lot of people showing up. I think I can host maybe twenty without it getting overcrowded. If anyone has any suggestions for alternative locations, or any ideas for the party, please let me know.

I don't know. The townspeople have told me that the spell sent her home. It does that sometimes, apparently.

[She snorted. Loudly.]

They are suddenly experts on magic?

They seemed pretty confident.

As confident as they were telling you to wear a frock, sugar?

I thought that was just the way they did things here.

How many men are there wearing skirts around here? I ain't seen so very many.

Well, no, but most of the men aren't princesses.

[golden_moon]

Exactly my point. By definition, there shouldn't be any man who happens to be a princess.

[She might be a slight hypocrite. Shush.]

They name people knights who've never seen a sword, wizards when they ain't ever even been around magic. These people are confused.

I don't trust them to be reliable witnesses. About anything.

There shouldn't?

[He didn't even know what a princess was until he woke up to hear that he was one. He smiles a little, with a shade of discomfort--he's never claimed to know much about things outside of the kitchen, but it's still uncomfortable to be so in the dark. It reminds him of his first stay in the Capitol, everything unfamiliar and a little foreboding.]

None of that means much to me. I figured the people who know about it also know what they're talking about, but I wouldn't know either way.

[A pause, and then she shrugged.]

The son of a titled ruler, like a King or an Emperor, is a 'prince.' A daughter is a 'princess'. Princess is a title that belongs only to females...at least, properly speaking.

Huh.

We don't have titles like that in Panem.

[The president is the president, male or female.]

We don't, either. Kicked out the king in 1775, and then kicked out the people who kicked him out in 1861, just for good measure.

Until I can here, the closest I ever came to a princess was a picture book.
