[Orb, Day 4] FIRST IMPRESSIONS ARE IMPORTANT

[Anyone Orb-gazing is treated to an extreme close up of a big, gross, yellow eye.]

Th' hell is this thing supposed to be?

[The eye moves. A mouth appears. A couple of the teeth are missing. The man bits his lip and sucks air between his teeth, as if he were trying to dislodge a stubborn shred of lettuce. All the while he mutters to himself as he inspects the damage in his reflection. He's got a busted lip.]

[It's then that something occurs to him. His expression blanches as he leans away from the glowing sphere, revealing the polished steps of the castle behind him.]

Oh, God, you're probably magic aren't you...They said somethin' about that, didn't they? [He gives it a little shake.] Hello? Is this thing on? Operator? How do you change the channel on this damn thing...What'r you lookin' at? [He turns to glower at one of the castle servants who had lingered on the steps to watch him only for a moment.] That's right, keep walkin'...

It has been two days now. Not really long enough to discover much of anything.

[Though she has found a nice napping spot with plenty of sunlight to warm her fur. Priorities, she has them.]

Well...that's a relief at least.

[He's glad she didn't say something like two YEARS. So...maybe there actually is hope.]

I don't know how long the others have been here, but for the most part people seem to just be arriving.

[She stops talking to give the outfit her fellow refugee is wearing a look. ]

What are you supposed to be?

[He looks down and tugs on his robes a little, wrinkling his nose up as he does so.]

A wizard, I guess. They gave me a hat. [He tugs it out of one of his sleeves. It's perfectly useless to him.] Want it?

You should keep it. People will give you odd looks if you don't appear like what they expect you to be.

[JW twists his face into a scowl and crams the hat lopsidedly over one antler, then holds his arms out.]

[SEE?]

They can get over it.

[It did look silly. Koma very nearly laughed at him, but she was able to stifle the urge. ]

I'm glad I didn't end up with anything like that. I only received useful things.

Oh, rub it in. What'd they saddle you with?

I received this bag.

[Koma pulls the bag she mentioned around so that he could see it. The dark robes she wore were the same as the ones she had at home. All she had was this strange bag and what it contained. ]

It is a magical bag of some kind. I have never seen a bag that would allow so many things to be placed inside it before.

[JW leans in close to get a good look at the bag but knows better than to try and touch it. Also part of him worries he might end up getting sucked in.]

Doesn't it get heavy?

No, it doesn't.

[Which really was another strange power the bag seemed to have. No doubt the magic that allowed it to carry so many things also handled the weight issue as well. ]

I don't know why I would be given this, do you?

[James shakes his head.]

No idea. I can't think of anything Ye Olde that has to do with magic bags.

[Koma sighs and slings the strap of the bag back over her shoulder. ]

It should be useful anyway.

Sounds like it.

[That bag was a kleptomaniac's dream. JW shifts his feet a little and looks down the steps and out over the land they've been plunked into. His grouchyface starts to fade into a tired one. 8( Wat do.]

You could ask for a room in the castle. They have plenty to go around.
