first arrow. ➳ voice. ( orb )
[ She practically threatened the old man out of her sight. ] Of course I have questions -- [ Desperate, horrifying ones. ] Prim! [ The voice rings out loudly over the orb's range of networking, the desperate shriek of a seventeen year old girl. The jabberjays have stopped. She's removed her hands from her ears, and she's discovered herself in a strange place with strange clothing. Everything is unfamiliar. And that can only mean one thing.
The Capitol has finally gotten to her. And probably her loved ones. ]
Peeta! [ She breathes raggedly. Like a scared animal. ] Where am I? What happened to them? [ The memory of the arena is fresh in her mind. Peeta, on the other side of the glass separating she and Finnick from the others as the jabberjays wreaked their havoc. The sounds of Prim and Gale screaming in voices that could only be brought on by torture. Surely they were dead. ]
I was in the arena! I was playing your damned Games! I did everything you asked me -- what did you do?! [ She has no idea to whom she is speaking. She's furious. She's terrified. She's yelling, and she's not going to stop yelling until she gets some answers. She wants them, now, and until she hears something soothing or receives a reasonable explanation for her whereabouts, she'll remain desperate.
And dangerous. ]

O_o Wow, small blogsite. Hi!
How it works is magic. Sorry, but, um th-that really seems to be the case.
RIGHT??? how are you toots?
Pretty good! Done a bit of game hopping. Pick up Tara, too.
I will assume, f-for the sake of argument, that there is no magic in your world and, um, it isn't just that you're unaware of it's existence.
Here, in this place? There is magic. Sorry, but there is. Not technology. Technology, um, has no place in fairy tales. Magic.
oooh i bet you're brilliant at her ♥ and i'm glad we're running into each other again!
[ That's a hard pill to swallow. Katniss steels herself and tries to maintain as much of a calm presence as she can. ]
How do things work on magic, then?
Me, too! o7 Hope you have fun here!
To take an impossibly cliched example, if a magic user were to decide to turn you into a frog, they would use magic to do so. Precisely how varies from world to world but, um, the general principle seems to be the same.
so far so thrilling! ♥
Yay! \o/
At the least, um, the good - and it can exist, in magic - is generally a lot harder to perform than the bad. And then, of course, there's, um, something of a neutral ground, such as locating lost objects.
But magic, in general, is used to do horrible things to your enemies, before horrible things can be done to you. If you're wary of it, you'll be better off.
If you've found yourself suddenly able to use it, I would advise you to seek out a teacher.

Otherwise, those can be, um, rather dangerous in their own right.

[As the victim of one such attempt, Giles ducks his head and takes off his glasses to clean them.]
Suppose we could do with some archers, around the place. Not sure anyone else uses them regularly.

I've used them all my life. I hunt.

Really, um, I would just generally advise not going out after dark. Especially not in the forest.

Not much game roams at night... But why shouldn't I go out?

Generally, they're kept back by a wall of thorns that grows up after sunset. But, um, that's not the case, come the new moon.
[Sorry, Katniss - informing you of upcoming danger comes first.]

[ That's disconcerting. ] Predators are always more prominent when the moon's fullest, or empty. Any good hunter knows that.

Didn't get a very good look at that one, though, since we managed to frighten it off before it could carry someone away.

How did you frighten it?

...which is to say, um, magic.
