Level 4: Two Books [RD 16]

[[Bakura's in the library of the Hero's Headquarters, looking a touch befuddled.]]

Does anyone know where these books came from? [[Holds up a pair of old looking books, neither of them labeled. One of them has a simple lock on it.]]

I can't find a key for this one, and this... [[he sets down the locked book to open the unlocked one, opening it to a page that has the day written on top of it, followed by smaller writing that's hard to read from the orb]]

It looks like a journal of sort... but this is today's date. And it has what was posted on the news board written in it.

[Grumpy, possibly hung-over Sasuke will be spending today curled up in his room with all the canopies and curtains drawn, sulking. He is irritated that the orb interrupted his self-pitying and will thusly snap at Bakura.

He's probably a floating face, only illuminated by the glow from the orb and having such dark hair.]

Burn them. It's all bullshit anyway.

... Good morning to you too, Sasuke...

And I doubt that would be a good idea.

What's good about it?

[Yes, that's a shade of a pout. He rolls over so his face is obscured against the pillow.]

Burning shit is always a good idea.

Not when it's magic. You might wind up just burning yourself or making some sort of mess.

What if you burn it with magic?

[[he ponders this a moment]] I'm not sure...

You really hate the rumor board that badly?

[And now that she's moving, it's easier to see that. The fabric behind her head was a horse blanket, not a tapestry. And look, there's Charlie.]

[Venomously.] There's very little I don't hate.

Is that just a mechanical lock?

[Okay, she might not want to fight for the Kingdom, but she's still a sucker for a mysterious book.]

Is that a perfect transliteration, or merely a summary?

[shiromadoushi]

I think so... Looks like one of those diary locks, to be honest! [[a small laugh]]

And I think it's a summery... I don't pay too much attention to that board to know the exacts.

If it isn't trapped, somehow, it shouldn't be terribly difficult to open. I could come and take a look.

[She smiles.]

Does the gossip diary have anything from before today in it?

[shiromadoushi]

OK!

[[He'll be paging through the Book of Rumors to see how far it goes back when she arrives]]

[[That explained a lot, sadly]]

What things don't you?

[[Seriously, how can he help make you less grumpy?]]

[shiromadoushi]

[[Nods]] It goes back to... [[flips pages until he starts hitting blank ones, then backs up to the last page with writing]] The third of Rebirth’s Height, it looks like.

My brother.

[That one's immediate. The image of his smiling face makes Sasuke hurt more, though, and he shoves his face in the pillow, smoldering.

Muffled.] Onigiri filled with tomato and skipjack tuna.

[shiromadoushi]

[[There's a very soft, almost sad smile at that first response. Yeah, he knows that feeling. His misses his adoptive family too.]]

I can't do anything to replace him... but I can make you some onigiri later. I've gotten the kitchen cleaned up enough to actually be usable.

[bondsoflove]

[Looking up at the orb with venom.] Don't bother. You'll ruin it.

[shiromadoushi]

[[blinks]] By not making it how you remember it, you mean?

[bondsoflove]

[Yup.] Sullying my mother's recipe and memory. They aren't Uchiha tomatoes. [That is to say, tomatoes grown in the Uchiha complex.]

[shiromadoushi]

[[nods. He can sort of understand that.]]

Then I won't try to.

[shadow_sage]

[A pause; she has no idea when that was, but it's not very important right now.]

I wonder if it's been...spelled...to update itself or not. Either way, why would anyone want to record that trash?

[She laughs, softly.]

Are you in our hall? I'm working in the yard, I can come in and take a look.

[shiromadoushi]

Un, in the library! And I really wouldn't know either, unless this is the only sort of history this kind of place keeps! Which really wouldn't surprise me...

[shadow_sage]

This place is a historian's nightmare.

[On this point, she sounds supremely confident.]

I'll just be a couple of minutes. See if you can find a good file or something. Sturdy. We'll take a look at this other book, too.
