Day Change: the 15th of Rebirth's Decline
Today is the 15th day of the Decline of the Season of Rebirth in the 137th Year Since the Wall Fell. The weather forecast has been moved to the top of the board due to it being covered up instantly with gossip rags. As consequence... no one can read it because it's too high up. Bugger. Well. Maybe if you squint... Cloudy with a chance of... kittens? Mushrooms? The hell does that even-- aw forget it. The predictions are always wrong anyway, even when they're right.
The townsfolk are all a buzz about the explosion at the old Totentanz home that the Heroes are rehabilitating. In what's said to be the first in a series of signs of The Curse, there was a massive explosion that took out the entire back yard! ... well. Maybe not the whole back yard. But there was an explosion! Elizabeth's old aunt Mary saw it when she was peering into the yard to see what all the fuss was about!
Speaking of curses, the town folk are deeply concerned that the brash Knight of Fire has fallen under the sway of one! Those who saw his rampage first hand (or at least claim that they did) said that his eyes were bleeding, burning from the fire within him as he chased after and did mischief to any who the thought had seen his brother. What sort of mischief varied from the violent to the sort that would have happened in the woods under the earlier full moon, depending on who was telling the story and who was listening in...
And speaking of that moon, a slow building rumors tells of a storm that brewed within that forest before the moon was high. Ghostly voices, flying men, lightening and ominous tales of lost souls mixed together deepen the royal love triangle in an epic tale of the blond knight fighting off the spirit of a jilted lover that had possessed the Prince he was fighting his brother for the hand of. Was the strange possession a precursor to the curse on the Totentanz mansion returning? Was it the ghost of her that sought to destroy the young lovers? Or was her ghost summoned up by the Foundling Prince in a desperate attempt to win back his love from his brother? Stay tuned for the next installment of 'As the Thorns Grow!' the latest totally non fiction novella by the town's biggest gossip!
