RD14: Morning

[fairweather]

[A red-haired woman in her early twenties can be seen in the orb. She sits straight-backed and looks quite dignified as she smiles. In the background, one of the very fine rooms of the castle can be seen. When she talks, her voice is very cultured and the refined English accent of an upper-class Londoner.]

Tell me, loves, where can I find a dressmaker? I want something with a little more style and I’m afraid the hideous rags provided simply won’t do. These frills and extra fluff in the skirt, no, no, I want a dressmaker with a sense of style and elegance.

[She sighs. Concerned about her situation? Oh, sure, it's mildly distressing opening a book and waking up in a different dimension, but you learn to roll with the punches.]

And if you do not know where I can find a decent dressmaker, any information about this world will do. Do keep it fun, that dreadful old man was such a bore, droning on about saving the world and defeating thorns. Do I look like a gardener? No, of course not. I don't suppose I can find a decent spa around here, hm? Even natural hot springs will do.

Sophronia, if you're out there, I'm staying at the castle.

N-No! No. [ Have a slight cringe at his all too eager reply. Smooth Helios. ] It's j-just a few bruises is a-all. [ Yep bruises. That's all it is Lavinia. ] I-I'm not the most graceful of-of people.

[ Another little laugh. ] I'll be alright though.

[fairweather]

Put some ice on it and do rest it. It's such a shame seeing such a handsome face in pain. Do tell me, what is your name?

[folklorist]

H-Handsome... [ His face goes even paler at that before his stops staring and clears his throat. ] O-Oh. Um. Y-Yes, of course, y-you're absolutely right. And it, um H-Helios. I-I apologize for n-not giving my name before.

[fairweather]

Helios... [Lavinia smiles a little. Hello, sunshine.] That's a lovely name. I'm Lavinia.

[folklorist]

Ah. [ A light, brief blush from him. He is not used to getting compliments okay? Just give him a moment! Helios is going to look away now, yup. ] Y-Yours is as well. It's, um, l-lovely. I've never really met anyone with it before.

[fairweather]

My father was a man who enjoyed mythology. I suppose that accounts for the unique name.

[folklorist]

Will see all earth turned Latin at their feet, Governed by them, as far as on his rounds The Sun looks down on Ocean, East or West.

[ Helios smiles as he says those lines. ] Daughter of Latinus and Amata, hm. It seems like our fathers were similar that way. Mine enjoyed mythology as well.

[fairweather]

[Well, well. A few decades ago, Lavinia might not have been so impressed, but in this present era? A scholarly man, impressive.]

So it seems. Do tell, are you truly a god walking the mortal plain? No need to be shy now.

[folklorist]

[ Helios laughs and shakes his head. ] N-No. No. I'm jsut an ordinary m-man. [ Who practices magic. ] A-And what about yourself? I've known many gods and g-goddess who have taken human form. S-So it's not all that strange to come across one.

[ And having the name Lavinia it could very well be the case. ]

Me? Well, I don't like to share all my secrets at once, but I've been told I'm quite extraordinary. [Normally Lavinia wouldn't mind talking about herself, especially in the company of such a handsome man - even if they are separated by an orb. However, it's not every day she's come across a man who has known gods and goddesses.]

Do tell, which gods and goddesses have you met?

[folklorist]

Ah, well, l-lots of them. Zeus, Thor, Poseidon. Lots of others too! [ A smile on his end. ] They're a lot easier to r-run into in my world.

[fairweather]

You deal with such gods and yet you say you're only an ordinary man?

[folklorist]

Um w-well yes. I-I don't really consider it t-to be all that s-special, when, when you think about it. [ Loads of people have probably interacted with them before. It's just, for many, they don't know that they're actually gods. ]

[fairweather]

Quite modest, aren't you. I do like that in a person.

[folklorist]

Ah w-well...I-I suppose so. [ he shifts in his seat on the bed. He looks a bit sheepish as he regards Lavinia's words. ] It-it's only the truth. Lots of, um, p-people talk to mythica in my world. It-it just depends on your stance towards that sort of thing.

[fairweather]

Do tell, what exactly do you mean by mythica? I must say I've never heard it used in that form before.
