Oh oh it's magic you knoooow

Open? Sure is!
Where: Town Square
When: RD 12, around the late afternoon
What: After everything that's happened the last few days Helios decides that lightening the mood is the least he can do. So without further ado have a magic show!
Warnings: Sawing of people in half. Except not.


[ Ladies and gentleman children of all ages! Today there is going to be some fantastical and fearsome creatures traipsing about the town square. But there’s no need to worry because they’re hardly real. Actually they’re more along the lines of being made of light but in fact they look incredibly real for something like that. What is the source of all these creatures you ask? Should you follow them to the small little gathering you'll find out that it's none other than Helios. He will be on a center wooden stage with his lovely assistant Ginia, looking out to the small, ever growing crowd of people. He’ll be wearing his traditional wizarding garb that he woke up with upon his arrival here, and he’ll even have an old gnarled branch for a wand. Helios will proceed to take off his hat and wave his wand around in a slightly exuberant fashion as he pulls out a snow white bunny from his hat. The crowd will cheer and clap offering up some coins and money for the stellar act. There's more tricks to be offered too. Such as making Ginia disappear or a card appear in someone's hand in the crowd. Whatever else anyone would want to offer up for him to do. He normally would never do this, especially because he’s not used to doing magic in front of so many people, but the little odd jobs and things he’s gotten over the course of the weeks being here have helped. Besides he had Ginia and Giles with him so that always helped.

Still Helios looks decidedly uncomfortable, tentative, and overall anxious even if he is managing a smile throughout the show. It's only when the crowd goes silent that a long wooden box is brought on to the makeshift stage. People unaccustomed to magic shows in general might not find the box all too exciting. But sawing someone in half is a bit…tricky even for Helios. And here he’ll give Ginia a shaky smile with a slight nod. Maybe after everything Ginia has been through this wasn’t the best course of action. Maybe, hopefully, someone else would stand up to take her place. ] And-and this last ending t-trick will require a volunteer. If-if anyone would like to offer themselves up. Otherwise I might have to use my assistant. B-But no need to worry! Everything is completely safe!

[ It ruins the suspense a little but, well, Helios doesn’t want to alarm anyone especially the guards or law enforcement of the city.

Once the magic show is over and most of the crowd is cleared away Helios will be up to talking to anyone who saw it over the orb or even stopped by in the town to see it in person. ]

[ Helios does appreciate everything Ginia has been doing for him in this little magic show of his. After everything she's gone through he was wondering if it was wise to have her go in as his assistant. When the long box is brought out Helios' stance becomes a bit more...uncertain and shaky. He knows that nothing is going to happen but there were always cases.

No. No. He is going to remain optimistic about this whole thing because it's the last thing Ginia needs to see, him unsure about his own powers, and so his shaky smile turns a bit more firm. ] Yes it's perfectly safe. I-I won't let anything hurt you Ginia, I promise.

/I know you wouldn't./ [There's the faintest memory of a burning building and a whip of blood, but little beyond that. Luceti was a place of strange oddities and things beyond their control. What they might have done during an event didn't always reflect what went on everyday. Helios is a deeply trusted friend and one of the best she has ever had.

When no one volunteers to take her place, she turns toward the audience and curtsies and blows kisses out to the audience, then steps into the box. Typically there was a false bottom or some kind of compartment she could hide in while fake legs gave the appearance of her legs actually being stuck out the bottom. But here? Well... she would trust in Helios' magic to do the trick.]

It's still probably a bit concerning for you though. But there's no need to worry. They won't suspect a thing, but well, illusion magic is quite powerful when you know how to use it. [ Helios will help Ginia into said box with a small smile as he does so. ]

Just, ah, hold still and it'll be over before you know it! [ He'll produce a very crud saw out of the bag on the stage. The crowd will whisper and gasp as he brings it ever closer to Ginia's person. It's only when he's a few inches away that a small pressure and cool touch will envelop Ginia's lower half of her body. Helios will make a slice but it doesn't even graze Ginia but from the crowd it looks like he's slicing cleanly and neatly through the box. He'll finish by pulling the two sides away, one with Ginia's torso the other with her legs, and smiling a little as people cheer and clap. It's only when he puts the two sides back together that he'll motion for Ginia to sit up. ] As you can s-see. No harm done!

[Ginia eases herself into the box and makes herself as comfortable as possible. She smiles and wiggles her feet, giving a mock expression of horror as he begins sawing through the box. Even knowing there's magic at play, she breaths a tiny sigh of relief when the saw doesn't touch her body at all.

Once the box is back together and Ginia is free to sit up, she does so, bowing and blowing a few more kisses to the audience. She steps down from the box and smiles at Helios, swiftly signing.]

/Wonderful job. Shall we go into show biz now?/

[folklorist]

[ Helios chuckles as he shakes his head. ] I-I sincerely doubt I-I could make a living off of this. [ Do you not see how utterly stressed out the poor man is Ginia? So stressed right now. ]

Though I think we m-made a good impression on everyone t-today. [ The cheering crowd agrees at least. ]

/Show business is a rough world./ [She never did go professional, but she remembers well enough how it was. While the crowd is still favorable to them, Ginia heads out again to collect a little more money, quickly filling up a hat with coins.]

/I think we did. This will take care of everything for at least a few weeks,/ [Ginia remarks when she brings back the full hat of money. It's quite impressive for a single show and subsequent shows could bring in more, but she sees how stressed Helios looks.] /I say we treat ourselves for a show well done, what do you think?/

It-it certainly is. [ It doesn't help that he's pretty much never had this sort of exposure ever. Helios smiles looking over at the coins in the hat. ]

Yes it should. I don't think we'll be needing to worry about food or things like that for awhile. [ Subsequent shows have been a thought. Helios knows that if he gets used to doing these things he can probably make a decent amount of money. ] I think that sounds lovely Ginia! We should find Giles then.

[shadedsunlight]

[It's not as if they need that much money with the villagers willing to give them almost everything they need, but having a substantial amount saved up in case something happens is always good. Maybe they can hire a boat to take them to any other kingdoms or buy a boat of their own to go sailing.]

/Yes, we should. I'm sure he'd like to come with us./ [Because the more the merrier. Even if she still has the feeling of running and leaving them behind, she knows she really couldn't. It would break Giles' heart too much and hurt Helios as well and she can't do that to them. She needs a reason to keep on going and they're as good a reason as any.]

/Maybe next time we can get Giles to provide some musical accompaniment. Or be an announcer. Our merry band of three./

[ True. But perhaps if they wanted a boat or even a house at some point they could readily buy one with this now. Helios beams and nods. He knows how hard it's been for Ginia lately and he knows that her doing this was an unbelievable favor to ask of her. ]

Then w-we should get changed back at the inn. Find him first of course. I thought I saw him in the crowd earlier... [ a 'hm' as Helios looks around for the other man. ] But I think our band of three would be a rather sensational hit! I-I think you're on to something. It's always better when you have friends to work with and all that. You and Giles' being here t-today really helped me too. S-So thank you for, for doing this with me. I-I know it's been...hard on you lately.

[shadedsunlight]

/You know Giles is when it comes to crowds./ [Even after all this time, Giles was still one to hang along the edges or avoid crowds outright. But he was getting a better about things.

She smiles, tiredly, but still a real smile.]

/I should thank you for the wonderful opportunity to help. I did enjoy it. Besides... I can't change the things I did. All I can do is see what life brings me here, right?/

[folklorist]

Yes I know, I know. He's still not too big on them is he? [ Helios isn't really but it helps when you're doing magic to keep your attention elsewhere. ] Oh please Ginia. There's no need to thank me for that! I-I just, um, thought you'd like to help.

[ Helios looks away, somber for a moment. ] Whatever life here brings you. [ Her and Giles now... ]

I-I want to make sure that it's as good as possible for you and G-Giles.

[shadedsunlight]

/And it is, Helios. I... I had my life, in my world, in Luceti, maybe more months than I was really meant to have. I had my life, I made my choices, I did what I could. And now that I'm here, I'll do what I can to keep going./

[It's so easy to say, but doing is so much harder. The fear of leaving, of simply not existing anymore still hangs heavy on her. Even with the support and understanding of Helios and Giles, that bit of knowledge hasn't been any easier. But for their sake, she'll try her best to stay together.]

[folklorist]

He looks over at Ginia uncertainly. He's not sure he quite believes her because he knows like himself Ginia keeps things hidden. He knows because he does the same exact thing and it's not as if she doesn't have her reasons not to. Sometimes a person's dark secrets are meant to stay that way. ]

Just...remember we're both here to help you k-keep going too. You don't have to do it alone. [ Even if there's a very insistent want to do so. ]

[shadedsunlight]

[Not alone. That's something she knows she needs to keep reminding herself of. She wasn't alone, not really, back in her own world, and she's certainly not alone here.]

/I know, and it means a lot to me. I can't.../ [Her signs trail off as she tries to find her words.] /I can't imagine what I would do without you two./

[ Helios has to keep reminding himself sometimes too. It's a product of actually being alone for much of his life in his own world. So it pains him to see it in others, like Ginia and Giles, he would not let them feel that way. Not ever. It was not a feeling that he liked and he knew what it could lead to and cause. ]

I can't imagine it either. I...I never even know if thank you is really enough sometimes for everything you two have done. [ A warm smile as he shakes his head. ] But I certainly can't imagine what I'd do without you both. It'd definitely be...harder, for certain.

/You're a brother to me, Helios, better than my own./ [Avery, Blanc, he was still someone Ginia was trying to sort out. Ginia knew she was past the initial hurt and could bear talking to him, even trust him with important information, but it wasn't the same. The hurt at being abandoned and left alone was one she struggled with.

Her breath catches slightly as she forces herself to smile.]

/Goodness, look at us, we're being so... dour. We definitely need some sugar./

[ He never knows what to say that. A brother, him? He always felt like such a terrible brother to his own. Nero hated him for reason he couldn't quite place and he never knew what he did to earn that hatred. It was strange hearing someone call him their brother because he felt like he was a terrible one at times. He didn't think he deserved that title especially with how much he made Ginia worry and Giles too. He gives Ginia a wane smile and then a little huff, shaking his head. ]

Oh, dear, you're absolutely right. W-well I can never really say no to sweets. I-I know just where to go too!

[shadedsunlight]

/Lead the way./ [She smiles slightly more happily at the idea. What would it be? Cakes? Cookies? Maybe candy? Perhaps all three.] /You know, with all the sweets you eat, sometimes I wonder if you use magic to keep your teeth perfect./ [She's teasing, but it's also something to think about.

...Because if there is magic for perfect teeth, she wants it.]

[ Helios reads her signing as the walk then several people with their children watching as they walk by. Nothing really harmful with taking a nice stroll with one of your dear friends, right? Well...one of your dear friends that you presumably cut in half. Strange pair these two only not, but the townspeople don't know any better. Still Helios' expression turns into a bright smile as he laughs. ]

Of course there are! But I, ah, never really used them...much. [ A small little smirk at that ending note. ] You can use magic in a variety of ways Ginia. D-Depending on the user you can practically do, well, anything with it. [ And it takes him a moment or two to realize how one can interpret that. His face is so not going to redden, nope not at all. ]

Oh! I-I think we're close...the t-tea shop should be around here somewhere.
