Oh oh it's magic you knoooow

Open? Sure is!
Where: Town Square
When: RD 12, around the late afternoon
What: After everything that's happened the last few days Helios decides that lightening the mood is the least he can do. So without further ado have a magic show!
Warnings: Sawing of people in half. Except not.


[ Ladies and gentleman children of all ages! Today there is going to be some fantastical and fearsome creatures traipsing about the town square. But there’s no need to worry because they’re hardly real. Actually they’re more along the lines of being made of light but in fact they look incredibly real for something like that. What is the source of all these creatures you ask? Should you follow them to the small little gathering you'll find out that it's none other than Helios. He will be on a center wooden stage with his lovely assistant Ginia, looking out to the small, ever growing crowd of people. He’ll be wearing his traditional wizarding garb that he woke up with upon his arrival here, and he’ll even have an old gnarled branch for a wand. Helios will proceed to take off his hat and wave his wand around in a slightly exuberant fashion as he pulls out a snow white bunny from his hat. The crowd will cheer and clap offering up some coins and money for the stellar act. There's more tricks to be offered too. Such as making Ginia disappear or a card appear in someone's hand in the crowd. Whatever else anyone would want to offer up for him to do. He normally would never do this, especially because he’s not used to doing magic in front of so many people, but the little odd jobs and things he’s gotten over the course of the weeks being here have helped. Besides he had Ginia and Giles with him so that always helped.

Still Helios looks decidedly uncomfortable, tentative, and overall anxious even if he is managing a smile throughout the show. It's only when the crowd goes silent that a long wooden box is brought on to the makeshift stage. People unaccustomed to magic shows in general might not find the box all too exciting. But sawing someone in half is a bit…tricky even for Helios. And here he’ll give Ginia a shaky smile with a slight nod. Maybe after everything Ginia has been through this wasn’t the best course of action. Maybe, hopefully, someone else would stand up to take her place. ] And-and this last ending t-trick will require a volunteer. If-if anyone would like to offer themselves up. Otherwise I might have to use my assistant. B-But no need to worry! Everything is completely safe!

[ It ruins the suspense a little but, well, Helios doesn’t want to alarm anyone especially the guards or law enforcement of the city.

Once the magic show is over and most of the crowd is cleared away Helios will be up to talking to anyone who saw it over the orb or even stopped by in the town to see it in person. ]

[tatra]

Tatra was wandering through the village, greeting everyone she passed with a smile (as usual) when she happened upon the little performance. Of course she stayed to watch, and she laughed and cheered with the rest of them, and when the crowds dispersed she stayed and cheered some more.

"That was quite a show," she informed Helios cheerfully. She recognized him from around town and from the orbs.

Helios will turn and return the smile just and cheerfully as Tatra.

"Oh! Thank you very much Tatra. I-I'm glad you enjoyed it." Helios doesn't think it was all too fantastic but, well, that's Helios. Him and his rather poor self esteem.

[tatra]

She nodded enthusiastic.

"I think the children rather enjoyed it as well!" It was really the energy that made the difference to her. A show poorly performed by an enthusiastic player was still worth seeing for Tatra.

"Do you do this a lot?"

[folklorist]

"I-I hope so. That, um, w-was the idea. Lighten the mood a bit after everything that's h-happened around here." Helios shakes his head at that question.

"No. Not usually. I-I typically only do it privately for p-people who want it. I use my magic to help with odd jobs here or there too. But this isn't such a bad idea to do every once in awhile, given the turn out and everything." Not even for the money. If he could make that many people happy doing simple magic like that? He most certainly would do it for free. It did help in turning the mood around to something less tense and dark and that was one of the main reasons for it.

[tatra]

She gave him a sweet smile.

"It's wonderful of you to do such a kind thing."

[folklorist]

Helios will just look a tad bit sheepish and rub the back of his neck. "O-Oh it's, it's nothing really. I-I just wanted to help lighten the mood. I-I'm sure anyone would agree that it was somewhat needed after, after everything."

[tatra]

"Perhaps," she agreed with a small nod. "But not everyone would have seen that need and seen fit to do something about it."

[folklorist]

Helios looks completely embarrassed and can only laugh sheepishly as he nods in acknowledgement. "T-True. I-I suppose you're right about that."

[tatra]

Tatra smiled and giggled.

"Have you eaten yet today?"

[folklorist]

Helios looks over and blinks at the question as if he didn't hear right.

"Oh! Oh no. I ah w-was going to get something after the show perhaps..." magic always did make him hungry after all. "Would you like to c-come along?"

[tatra]

Well didn't that just figure? She smiled a bit wider.

"Let me treat you! To repay you for the show."

[folklorist]

Helios looks totally surprised by that offer, derp. He is so not used to people offering him things like this. Hold on as he tries to regain his composure and not look so sheepish.

"Oh! Ah w-well you, you don't have to. I-I mean I do appreciate the offer, Tatra." But, well, Helios doesn't think his show was that spectacular that it warranted such things.

[tatra]

"Oh, don't be ridiculous," she scolded him gently. "I have more money than I know what to do with here. It may as well go to some use."

[folklorist]

Helios laughs and rubs the back on his neck. "If, if you want. Thank you very much. I-I really appreciate it."

He smiles then broad and genuine. "Do you have a specific place in mind?"

[tatra]

She thought for a moment, then snapped her fingers as an idea came to her. There's a lovely restaurant a short way from here! I'm not sure what sort of food it is, but it's good." And they had good tea.

[folklorist]

"I've haven't been to so many of these places yet. It sounds lovely though!" Even if the food in this time and era wasn't something he was quite so used to Helios has been building up...a strange liking to certain dishes. Tuckery legs, stew, roasted duck and whatever else. Helios was never too shy about trying new foods at least and this certainly has given him more than the experience in that category.

He'll motion for Tatra to lead way and he'll follow behind her. "Lady's first."

[tatra]

She curtseyed before walking off in the direction of the restaurant.

"I know the woman who owns it," she explained as she walked, "she's quite friendly." And she used just the right amount of spice for Tatra's taste, a pleasantly rare quality in this town it seemed.

[folklorist]

"Ah you do? The towns people here are rather comfortable with us now it seems." Aside from a few or so people he's encountered. Helios will nod and smile at the few people they pass, some from the show just now, others just being friendly.

"What's your favorite dish that they serve there?"

[tatra]

"They're quite used to me by now," she agreed cheerfully. She made it a habit of walking through the town and making idle conversation with nearly everyone she passed.

"They have a delightful chili!"

[folklorist]

"It's...getting them used to to you that's the hard part." Helios laughs lightly as he looks around at the bustling, busy, street around them. He'll quirk his brow at the mentioning of chili. Not the first item on the menu that he would thought they would make in a medieval town.

"Chili really? That sounds delicious. I've always been a fan of that, homemade really is the best."

[tatra]

"To be sure," she agreed. It had taken plenty of work to get them to like her as much as they did, and they were still fairly apathetic if she ever found herself in trouble.

"I've never heard of it before! But I rather like the spices."

[folklorist]

"Yes it can be quite hot depending on the person making it. Cumin, chilli powder, red peppers and things like that. Can certainly pack a punch." Helios laughs and then looks over at Tatra.

"So you enjoy spicy foods then? You'd like...Indian food, or Thai. Both those cultures in my world tend to make rather spicy things. Perhaps one day I could make you something. I do love having people try different foods." Helios also loves cooking for people so this isn't something he'd readily protest.

[tatra]

"I've never heard of those places, either," she noted cheerily. She took just about everything in stride and with a smile.

"I'd like that very much, if it wouldn't be too much trouble!"

[folklorist]

"Places. Oh! They're actually spices. From my world. Earth. They're all very spicy too. I wonder if anyone around here sells them." Hm. It would be intriguing to look for them

"Oh heavens no! I do love cooking for people. And, well, it can be sort of thank you for all of this."

[tatra]

"Oh!" she exclaimed, obviously quite surprised. The people here weren't very big on explaining the ways of their world.

"Well in that case, I would be honored to taste your cooking."
