Oh oh it's magic you knoooow

Characters: Helios and anyone else
Open? Sure is!
Where: Town Square
When: RD 12, around the late afternoon
What: After everything that's happened the last few days Helios decides that lightening the mood is the least he can do. So without further ado have a magic show!
Warnings: Sawing of people in half. Except not.

[ Ladies and gentleman children of all ages! Today there is going to be some fantastical and fearsome creatures traipsing about the town square. But there’s no need to worry because they’re hardly real. Actually they’re more along the lines of being made of light but in fact they look incredibly real for something like that. What is the source of all these creatures you ask? Should you follow them to the small little gathering you'll find out that it's none other than Helios. He will be on a center wooden stage with his lovely assistant Ginia, looking out to the small, ever growing crowd of people. He’ll be wearing his traditional wizarding garb that he woke up with upon his arrival here, and he’ll even have an old gnarled branch for a wand. Helios will proceed to take off his hat and wave his wand around in a slightly exuberant fashion as he pulls out a snow white bunny from his hat. The crowd will cheer and clap offering up some coins and money for the stellar act. There's more tricks to be offered too. Such as making Ginia disappear or a card appear in someone's hand in the crowd. Whatever else anyone would want to offer up for him to do. He normally would never do this, especially because he’s not used to doing magic in front of so many people, but the little odd jobs and things he’s gotten over the course of the weeks being here have helped. Besides he had Ginia and Giles with him so that always helped.

Still Helios looks decidedly uncomfortable, tentative, and overall anxious even if he is managing a smile throughout the show. It's only when the crowd goes silent that a long wooden box is brought on to the makeshift stage. People unaccustomed to magic shows in general might not find the box all too exciting. But sawing someone in half is a bit…tricky even for Helios. And here he’ll give Ginia a shaky smile with a slight nod. Maybe after everything Ginia has been through this wasn’t the best course of action. Maybe, hopefully, someone else would stand up to take her place. ] And-and this last ending t-trick will require a volunteer. If-if anyone would like to offer themselves up. Otherwise I might have to use my assistant. B-But no need to worry! Everything is completely safe!

[ It ruins the suspense a little but, well, Helios doesn’t want to alarm anyone especially the guards or law enforcement of the city.

Once the magic show is over and most of the crowd is cleared away Helios will be up to talking to anyone who saw it over the orb or even stopped by in the town to see it in person. ]

((ooc; anyone can participate in this. Timelines do not apply! Also have your doods shout out random magic tricks for Helios to do. He is taking all offers!))

[Just when Sasuke is convinced that this town is full of proto-humans who can't add one plus one, he sees something like this that makes him question his own eyes.

He'd think it were a series of illusions, but nobody who isn't an Uchiha can mimic the nuances of reality so perfectly, and he can't see any chakra being molded at all.

It doesn't make sense.

So after the show, he walks forward, observing, eyes narrowed.]

How.

[ It's the young man's stern and serious voice that gets Helios to jump slightly as he turns with a small smile. ] Oh! I-I apologize I didn't see you there!

[ A sheepish laugh as he looks back at Sasuke. ] Um w-well it's, just ah, s-simple magic really. [ No, truly, it is. ]

Explain "simple magic". How does it work.

[He scowls, crossing his arms over his chest.]

[ Oh dear you just had to ask Helios that didn't you Sasuke. ]

Ah! W-Well it depends on the world and the m-magic in question really. Elemental magic uses the four basic elements. Earth, fire, wind, water. Typically it takes more energy to form something like a ball of water or fire when the specific elements aren't readily in the vicinity. But! It's still possible. Illusion magic is another story entirely. You can basically bend the light around you t-to form an illusion of sorts. [ And Helios will demonstrate of course. His eyes will glow bright green then and in front of the two of them in the palm of his hand will form a bright, red, apple.

He smiles as he closes his hand around it and it disappears in an instant. ] Like that!

[Finally. An explanation that makes sense.

He watches attentively as the apple appears, then disappears. And the glowing of the eyes is fascinating. Some kind of doujutsu?]

Your eyes. Is that unique to you, or does it happen whenever someone does magic here?

[ Helios blinks and then gives a small smile with a nod. ] J-Just me I-I think. I haven't seen anyone else with the same sort of reaction when they use magic.

[ Though it's entirely possible that other people have the same thing happen to them. ]

No members of your family?

O-Oh well. Yes my family can t-too. [ Not that Helios feel all too comfortable talking about Nero. ]

It, um, it's probably on indigenous to my own world. I'm not sure I've seen the same thing happen to others who use magic however.

"We have something like that where I come from."

Sasuke ignored the stammering--although it was a little irritating. He wanted to get to the point, and not have to slog through each syllable on repeat. He shut his eyes, and when he opened them they were in the sharp focus of the sharingan. He gave a smirk. "Does it do anything for your vision, or is it just a response to the energy?"

Helios for all its worth can't really help his stammer especially in front on new people he's just met. He's a bit of a nervous wreck upon first meetings and the performance did nothing for his nerves either. Helios jumps slightly upon seeing Sasuke's eyes. That was...they were...

"N-No not, not really. That-that's amazing. Is that n-normal for your eyes to look like that? Is it magic what your doing?" Color him extremely curious Sasuke.

"Hn." Sasuke gave a little smirk--it was nice to have someone show interest in his eyes who didn't want to rip them from his skull and leave him to die.

"Unique to my family," he answered. "It's called the sharingan. It gives me perfect recall, enhances my fire, and I can see through most illusions."

He blinked again and released the sharingan--he didn't want to exhaust what little chakra he had. Just in case.

"We don't call it magic, though. We call it a bloodline limit."

"That's a rather powerful ability. It's only unique to your family then, hm? Very interesting. I-I suppose other family have such powers then too?"

Sasuke nodded. "Yeah--there are other families whose limits are in their eyes, but it's not what all bloodline limits are. Sometimes, it allows you to meld two different elements into something unique--take wind chakra and water chakra and create ice techniques, for example."

Helios listens as Sasuske explains. That was most certainly like his sigils and putting different spells together.

"I have a similar practice. It's not spells typically, just-ah sigils that can be combined together. Fire and wind, ice and water. Things like that." Helios will tap his chin with a forefinger.

"We have ice spells and wind spells to of course. And they can be used together in succession if need be to, to make something more powerful."

"Are sigils like hand seals, or are they written?" Sasuke asked, watching Helios's finger on his chin as he processed the information. Spell--perhaps something similar to ninjutsu, including the possibility of elemental infusion.

"Drawn." And here Helios will bend down and begin to draw a symbol. "Something like that and you can add certain other spells into the sigil to give you different results." Helios pauses and then scuffs out the teleportation sigil's runes.

"It usually works for barrier spells mostly. Ah, well, that's one of the sigils I've used in tandem with other spells."

The symbols were completely unfamiliar, but he recognized the basic concept--crouched to look at it more closely before Helios wiped it away.

Sasuke looked up, curious. "Summoning?"

Helios nods and smiles. "There's a different sigil for that. Ah, well, many different sigils are used for that actually. Depending on the mythica and the family you wish to contact. A demon's sigil is different from an angels and a kitsune is different from a kappa."

Right. Like how hawks are different from snakes. "Do you sign a blood contract to summon?"

Helios nods and begins drawing the same sigil. "This one requires blood to make it work perfectly. Summoning, depending on the creature you're trying to contact, does also yes." Helios looks up from his drawing.

"Blood magic is-is rather powerful in my world. M-Mostly only sigils are the things that use it to make the spell more potent."

"Hm."

Sasuke observed the new seal, not looking up from it to speak. "We sign blood contracts with the animals we summon, and it takes blood to summon them. I had a curse repressed by blood seals, once."

It had hurt. More than getting the initial curse. His shoulder still twinged occasionally, phantom pains that brought him back to Sound. He looked up with a wry smirk. "Didn't work, though."

Helios listens as the young man continues nodding and pacing a little to think. Hm. That was so very interesting. Blood contracts to summon animals wasn't too different from his own world and yet this wasn't called magic. Same principles, mostly, but a different name.

"A-A curse? Oh dear." Helios looks a bit concerned only to smile slightly at Sasuke's reassurance. As long as he wasn't in pain now...

"You...lifted it correct? The, ah, c-curse? I-I know our worlds different but perhaps if-if it's still there...I could try and help remove it." He can't think of how painful it must be to live with a blood curse. It was one of the more painful types even in his own word. It did things to a man...that were terrifying and inhumane. It was a black magic that was so far beyond the limits of the magic council that if caught preforming it one was put to death immediately.

The change in his expression, along with the stammering and concern in his tone, betrayed either naivety or an act. Sasuke chose to give him the benefit of the doubt--he was sure he could catch it in time, if it was some kind of deception--and tugged at his shoulder. The only indication there had ever been a whorl of black, scorched flesh was the two tiny scars Orochimaru's teeth had left.

"My brother lifted it," he said, "But thanks. It's not the worst thing my body's been through, anyway."

Helios winces when he sees the scorched flesh and the teeth marks. Helios looks rather apologetic about asking now.

"S-Sorry. I-I didn't, um, m-mean to make you th-think about it." Helios has lots of hang ups about injuries like this because his own scars aren't anything to look at either. There isn't any falsehood in his expression or his actions either. Helios' past is just rather hard and seeing this doesn't help either.

He shrugged, half to pull his shirt back into place and half to express a nonchalance he almost made himself believe. "Curse is gone. That's all that matters."
