Log: Sixth of Rebirth's Decline

[Gretel's over at Hawk's doorstep, knocking away. She's got a large satchel thrown over her shoulder and her wands were wound into her hair, keeping it up in a messy bun.]

Faolan? Are you home?

"Then that's what we'll do. You'll draw her out and I'll get her while she's distracted." Gretel decided gleefully.

[greatsquirrelhunter]

Brilliant! Faolan clapped his hands in anticipation.

[halfwitch]

"When should we go?"

[greatsquirrelhunter]

"Should go soon, right?" Faolan said. "Witch is dangerous, right?"

[halfwitch]

"As soon as we can. Because she is dangerous. Very dangerous. All witches are."

[greatsquirrelhunter]

"Yes," Faolan agreed. "Must protect!" He paused. "Should tell Hawk?" This might not be the best idea. "Might say shouldn't...."

[halfwitch]

"You probably shouldn't." She agreed, pursing her lips. "He might get mad." And tattle to the few people in the town Gretel would listen to.

[greatsquirrelhunter]

"So we go! Just us! Protect!" He bounced around her a bit, grinning happily at being able to do something.

[halfwitch]

"I wonder if we could nab some weapons for this. Just in case." She pondered.

[greatsquirrelhunter]

"Faolan had two knives," the boy told her, pulling them out of his sleeves. "And Hawk makes weapons."

Welcome to a smithy, Gretel.

[halfwitch]

"I have one knife." She pointed to her bag, not caring if the younger boy went through it. "And a few little dart like things I made out of stuff I found around the forest edge."

[greatsquirrelhunter]

Faolan pawed through the bag, humming as he hefted her knife to test its balance and edge. "Can get you better ones from Hawk," he decided decisively.

[halfwitch]

"I'd like some better ones for fighting." She moved back over to Faolan, and pointed to the hilt of the knife. "But this one's special. See the swirly things on the end? This is used in spells."

[greatsquirrelhunter]

Faolan considered, flipping the knife a few times to test its weight and balance.

"Bet Hawk could make one that was magic too," he said loyally.

[halfwitch]

"You think?" Gretel asked, eyes brows raising and tone getting a little excited. "You think he'd make me some? They'd make spell work a lot easier for me."

[greatsquirrelhunter]

"Know Hawk can do it!" Faolan answered with the confidence of a young boy. "Can make anything!"

[halfwitch]

"I'll ask him then." She decided, scooting closer to the boy. "When this is over."

[greatsquirrelhunter]

Faolan drops the knife to fling himself over her, shamelessly cuddling.

[halfwitch]

She grinned, reaching to curl her finger in his hair and pet the back of his head.
