[The young woman seated in front of the orb looks anything but comfortable, scooting herself over every once in a while to make sure she's within view. Behind her, there's a rustling sound, which makes her look back nervously before turning to the orb.]

I didn't want to be using this, but it seems to be the quickest way to get notices about for the time being, and I'm afraid I haven't the time to visit each and every one of you.

[There's a loud squawking sound, and she glares at it offscreen.]

I am Princess Rue, and I am hereby claiming the northwest wing of Schwanheim castle in the name of my Prince, Mytho, who is, unfortunately, indisposed to make it himself. Aside from servants and those who already live there, we will not be allowing any uninvited visitors, and for safety's sake I will need to approve those who are invited.

[Another series of caws, sounding mysteriously like laughter, and, to those who know it, a chorus of Queen Rue, Queen Rue! She mouths a silent shut up before turning back with her attempt regal expression.]

That said, I do not wish to sound unwelcoming, especially to the newcoming royalty. It is simply a matter of safety, for, if you do not know already, this place we've come to is very--Get off that!

[The princess abruptly disappears from her chair to scold an unseen annoyance, leaving behind a single, curious black bird, pecking at the orb.]

[Fakir looks rather less than impressed. He sets the orb down, and its momentary tottering undermines his chilly tone.] And just who are you classifying as a servant as opposed to an uninvited visitor?

[It takes her a few moments to reply, and when she does return she looks a little flustered.]

Not you, idiot. You live here, obviously. I was talking about the maids and the cleaning women.

Though I am called you replied. I may need the Prince to stay in your room for a few days.

That... wouldn't be a problem. Why the change of heart?

[She lowers her voice, looking irritated.]

As you might have guessed, the crows have been...problematic, as of late. Apparently quite a few of their brethren lived in that village that vanished and now they've all come to me for protection.

That's almost sweet. I suppose since we're the designated heroes we'll need to get to the bottom of that's once Mytho is sorted. Has he been upset?

No, but I don't want them around him. They seem to all be idiots for the most part, but I still don't trust them not to hurt him if I ever leave him alone. And besides, you were worried to leave him alone with me anyway, weren't you?

I was, and this sort of thing was exactly why. He really shouldn't be away from me in this state.

There's nothing wrong with the way I've been treating him. Before the birds came he was perfectly fine, and he's fine now because I've kept him away from them. Honestly, Fakir, if you can't allow him to stay with me now what are you going to do if he gets his heart back?

I'll adjust. I've had to adjust to this, haven't I?

We've had to adjust to a lot of things. Which is why it makes no sense that you've suddenly changed your mind about me living with Mytho.

[A visible flinch. He'd forgotten for a moment that this isn't the same Rue he's known these past few years.]

That's complicated, but unimportant.

How is it complicated?

[She lowers her voice even more, hissing angrily.]

Do you think I'll become Kraehe, is that it? That I'd honestly go back to hurting him after everything that's happened?

No! Not everything has to do with you. It's about me, not you, so just drop it.

Obviously it has a little to do with me if you don't trust me. But fine, just be here tomorrow to get him.

[Fakir sighs and throws a nearby discarded shirt over the orb.] I'll come first thing in the morning.

What a cute bird!

It's not cute at all! It's ugly and messy and very very rude!

I think he's rather sweet looking.

Does it have a name?

[The crow calls out cheerfully, but Rue immediately hushes him. She'd rather not translate his 'name' in polite company.]

He's not a pet, really. They just stay here because they're under the mistaken impression I'm their princess.

Mistaken?

Because I can speak with them. And they're all idiots.

Could they not have made you their princess just recently? It is difficult to be mistaken in such things.

I would prefer to have a say in becoming the princess of crows. Especially if it makes them all decide to stay in my room.

They may leave you alone if you ask nicely! Ladies in waiting are meant to do that sort of thing.

[She looks back at the gathered murder of crows in her room with a sigh.]

I suppose having attendants like these wouldn't be so bad if they stayed out of the way sometimes...

Ehhh?! Wh--what's going on..?

[He looks over to see the crow pecking at the orb. In response, Reize waves excitedly.]

Hi Mr. Crow!

[The crow caws excitedly in response, before Rue reappears and moves him out of the way.]

I apologize for that, they're fascinated with this stupid thing for some reason. Did you have a question?

Yeah! What is going on exactly? The announcement of closing the area off. ...I'm a bit new here and I'm confused as to what is going on exactly.

Oh, nothing someone like you should worry about. I'm simply establishing a safe haven for myself and my husband while we're here. It isn't so much closing it off as monitoring who goes in and out.

...Oh. I see. Okay! Safety is important, after all!

I'm glad you understand. I was quite worried that people would take my announcement the wrong way.
