korra stands up in full, moving to the pitcher and pulling up the water in one quick movement. with the bubble of water floating between her hands she turns back to mako ]

I don't really know what to heal, to be honest, but I at least have a couple guesses of what to try. [ IS THIS REASSURING OR WHAT ] Stay down there.

okay. sitting in front of korra. on the ground. hE'S KIND OF NERVOUS otherwise you KNOW he would be sprawling like usual, gams out across the floor, spine curved as he supports himself with his hands on the floor. but he's not he's sitting with his feet pulled up, arms resting on his knees with his hands just sort of hanging there in space, okay it sounds weird to describe but body language is important with mako, and i guess i lied about him not sprawling, he's just sprawling in a more confined space MAKO HOW DO YOU MANAGE TO TAKE UP SO MUCH SPACE WITHOUT TAKING UP ANY SPACE AT ALL ARE YOU A CAT WHAT

korra leans forwards, her knees touching his back, feet placed just to either side of him. she takes a deep breath—he's warm, she's aware of his presence, but then she always is and it's just a fact always now at the back of hear mind—lets it out.

without a visible injury to heal, korra's not fully sure of what she's doing. she's used to dealing with the obvious, where she can actually see the blood or the bruise. she remembers katara's teaching her about head injuries—but korra had been more focused on the new white crane waterbending form she'd learned that week...

focus, korra.

she lowers her hands, shaping the water to mako's temples, the back of his skull, trying to find tender or damaged areas that might be affecting his memory. her style of healing is effective, though much rougher than katara's; however, tentative as she is with his head the flow of the glowing water is slower, gentler, the healing less of a forced shock. ]

[assiduous]

[ mako is tense, still as he sits, his only injuries being a slight bruise from falling off a ladder (easily mistaken as a bump from a headboard or the door of a car), but as korra's bending begins to work, he slowly begins to uncoil. stress headaches are such a constant presence in his life, he's nearly blindsided by how GOOD it feels to get one taken away. ]

Nnhh.

[ he inhales sharply as she reaches the worst of it, eyes half shut, unconciously tilting his head back into her hands even more. the exhale is a stuttering half sigh, a reverent "spirits" slipping in off the tail end. his shoulders droop, and he leans back on her knees, for once not concentrating on what's wrong, or what he needs to fix and take care of.

is his head entirely in her lap yet? sorry if he's getting her wet not sorry korra look its mako's collarbones, wow he is so relaxed right now ]

[streamlines]

[ ndjkasb mako. mako it's like you're asking to be assaulted. korra takes a sharp breath mimicking mako's own when he leans back, fully supporting his head with her hands now, wrists encased with water as she lets him lean back on her lap.

korra's distracted, and for a moment the glow of the water fades, but it's soon back in full force. tentatively her fingers begin to move again—no longer just twitching enough to keep the water flowing but also now massaging his head, temples.

korra swallows. ]

Feel anything?

[ well he obviously feels something, but she's not sure what that means. ]

[assiduous]

[ well, he really does need to unwind, you know? eyes shut, he just — lets himself sit and breathe, as the water slowly repairs the damage from three consecutive electrocutions to the synapses in his brain

he sounds half asleep when he answers, a good twenty seconds later, though it's not really an answer at all. ]

... You're really good at this.

[ MAKO JUST COMPLIMENTED YOUR BENDING korra what now ]

[ korra was... honestly close to forgetting the goal of the healing session in the first place and just moving down to his neck and shoulders, but she remembers what she was supposed to be doing when mako speaks.

hearing mako give a compliment isn't totally wild—he's been known to do it every once in a while—but they aren't given often, and korra's gone from feeling entitled to the highest praise all the time to feeling like mako's approval, when given, is something she's really earned. ]

Told you. [ the smirk's in her voice, but she's staying light. ] I did have the best training in the world, after all.
