Day Change: the 4th of Rebirth's Decline
Today is the 4th day of the Decline of the Season of Rebirth in the 137th Year Since the Wall Fell. Sign still says the 3rd though. And with no sign of Ole Man Signchanger, who knows when that'll get fixed.
In fact, a lot of the town is sparse today. Those who were around for it may recall the Day of Hangovers that followed the Height's Moon festival and will likely not be surprised. The King likes to put on a proper celebration and when wine and beer are abundant and free, you can easily guess the result.
And man oh man, what a party that was! Rumors from those who didn't drink themselves into a stupor have that the very earth quaked and the moon howled and the wolf that had been causing so much trouble stepped out of the woods on two legs, challenged the moon to a duel to the death and warped the world around them as they fought.
.. no, no maybe that last one was from one of the drunken stupors.
But the general consensus is that something happened with that crazed wolf, the Barnburner's farm is testament to that! The house blown in, the barn burnt down (Angus swears it wasn't him this time, because why would he burn down his own barn?) and strange patterns worn into the haying fields.
Rumor has that the market quarter took quite a hit as well, though no one can quite tell where as the damage, which by all accounts was truly horrific, with every bit of metal twisted and bent, seems to have repaired itself without any sign of any damage having been done. Very strange.
And in other gossip, one of the heroes is rumored to have been tricked into wearing a cursed mask at the ball, and is now possessed by the spirit of a beast. Any persons seeing a man wearing a skull are advised to run screaming in unholy terror and not come near him, else the mask will curse them and make them as ugly as the possessed hero!
Speaking of heroes, the whispers from the mountain towns about the true hero who arrived there continue. She managed to stop a rock slide by making those rocks roll backwards up the mountain and stay where they had started from! And what's more, she claims not to have come from another world, but from one of the towns that the thorns have already destroyed! A true miracle?
