The party went on, with the beast's head on display. A proud, twisted thing. Behind false ruby eyes, it waited. And as the music became slower and the wine less plentiful, it waited still.

Those who had gazed upon it at the ball. Those who had seen it once living in the forest. All heroes who dared to look upon its face and dream still that they would be able to live another day...

There are all sorts of ways of living. In waking. In sleep. Perhaps, now, they would find one in between.

(ooc: Feel free to keep tagging into the party post! Once your characters go home and go to sleep of their own accord, that is when the dreaming will begin. Remember, it is up to you to set up what kind of world your character is trapped in and how best to help them. Plotting post is here, make use of it!

The beast's power will wane once the bulk of the dreamers have escaped his curse. If your character was not at the party but you still want to involve them in the dream plot, that is fine! They can either help get people out or have seen the beast wandering in the woods before it was killed and have caught its attention that way.

[ Calling the guards was a bluff. Loki is afraid of being seen as weak; he will only call if something terrible happens. After something terrible happens. ]

Watching the stars. And the snow.

[ Patchy clouds, mostly covering the sky, now. ]

You don't know the way down, do you?

[folklorist]

[ Aw Loki. Don't worry. Helios is far too much of a derp to do anything anyway. He'll turn to look up at stars and feel some of the snow touch his face. It makes his eyes widen ever so slightly because it gives him the cold initial chill that he hasn't felt is several long years. It's then that he knows something is wrong, his skin is warm and his body fights back the built in action to shiver. ] Always a nice calm endeavor. I used to do it quite often with a friend of mine.

[ And here he'll pause and look a bit sheepish as he rubs the back of his neck. ] Ah...th-that too. [ He might peer over the side, eyes widening a little as he does so. The over lay of the city is one he isn't familiar with at all. ] Where is this, if you don't mind my asking?

[bittyfun]

[ Must be some sort of magical accident. Perhaps a practicing sorcerer did a summoning, and it led to this...? Loki doesn't feel any pressing need to fix it. Let whoever did it own up and fix their own problem.

He raises his chin. ]

It is Asgard, the greatest of the Nine Realms.

[folklorist]

[ Helios' eyes widen and there's a sharp intake of breath. Oh good lord this...this was Asgard? He's spoken to many a Norse god on his planet but never actually been. ] It's...it's amazing. I've never seen it with my own two eyes before. Imagined it, yes, but never actually thought I'd be able to see it.

[bittyfun]

It's the most beautiful place in all the Nine Realms.

[ And he says this softly, smoothly. A lie, because there are things he has found more beautiful, but he's supposed to love it here. He's supposed to think it home. ]

[folklorist]

I can only imagine. I haven't had the honor of seeing any others, aside from my own Midgard but, well. [ He shrugs a little. ] There's no place like one's home I don't think. I've never seen anything like this on Earth but, ah, I wouldn't expect to. A-Asgard is quite beautiful. [ He'll turn and smile back at Loki warmly. ]

You're mortal?

[ Loki can't help but be curious. He is hardly allowed to leave Asgard; for his own safety, for the security of the realm, for whatever excuse Odin and Frigga make of the both of them.

He leans forward, subtly, as though straining for knowledge. ]

[folklorist]

Um yes ac-actually I am. [ Helios looks over at Loki and gives him a warm smile. It's certainly odd and this is probably not real somehow he knows in the back of his mind that it can't be. Because he made it to a place so far removed from his own plane of existence. But he won't mention that to the boy at least not yet. ] From Earth. Or, well, you probably know it as Midgard.
