The party went on, with the beast's head on display. A proud, twisted thing. Behind false ruby eyes, it waited. And as the music became slower and the wine less plentiful, it waited still.

Those who had gazed upon it at the ball. Those who had seen it once living in the forest. All heroes who dared to look upon its face and dream still that they would be able to live another day...

There are all sorts of ways of living. In waking. In sleep. Perhaps, now, they would find one in between.

(ooc: Feel free to keep tagging into the party post! Once your characters go home and go to sleep of their own accord, that is when the dreaming will begin. Remember, it is up to you to set up what kind of world your character is trapped in and how best to help them. Plotting post is here, make use of it!

The beast's power will wane once the bulk of the dreamers have escaped his curse. If your character was not at the party but you still want to involve them in the dream plot, that is fine! They can either help get people out or have seen the beast wandering in the woods before it was killed and have caught its attention that way.

Gills howls in frustration and reaches down to yank on one of those wrist claws, pulling it and pulling it until it is no longer a claw, but a clawed tentacle. He's swinging it around experimentally before flinging it like an ensnaring whip at her.

The thunder doesn't seem to bother him. He's far too wrapped up in there being an actual fight...but some small part of his brain is starting to become aware that there is something very, very dream-like about all of this...but there is still an enemy to best.

She leaps again, as as a sudden wall of thorns erupts from the ground, sending sand flying everywhere.

Gills snarls as he quickly retracts the tentacle so he can dodge the thorns. He's not entirely successful, and he gets tossed around a bit. They're everywhere and totally unnatural.

Too unnatural. He howls again, enraged by this, as his form changes once more. He grows an additional horn, and more spikes grow out along his body. Two red tentacles snake out from his shoulders to try one final time to ensnare this foe.

'Yes, yes! Let your anger feed you! Tear this world to shreds!' The demon's head laughed properly this time, the woman dancing just out out reach as the thorns began to reach, covering more and more of the beach.

Gills howled again, his tentacles flailing to no avail, his claws slicing the air as he attempted to slice back the thorns...

...and deep inside Ryo's brain, something stirred. Tear this world to shreds... The world. It wasn't real. None of this was real. A dream...?

He woke up in a cold sweat, breathing as though he really had been fighting that hard on some strange thorn-covered beach. The sheets of the bed he was making temporary use of in the castle were tangled all around him, but that didn't matter, not at first. He had to look at his hands, make sure they were human, make sure the power hadn't eaten away at them as it used to...but no. He was fine. It had been just a dream...or had it?
