The party went on, with the beast's head on display. A proud, twisted thing. Behind false ruby eyes, it waited. And as the music became slower and the wine less plentiful, it waited still.

Those who had gazed upon it at the ball. Those who had seen it once living in the forest. All heroes who dared to look upon its face and dream still that they would be able to live another day...

There are all sorts of ways of living. In waking. In sleep. Perhaps, now, they would find one in between.

(ooc: Feel free to keep tagging into the party post! Once your characters go home and go to sleep of their own accord, that is when the dreaming will begin. Remember, it is up to you to set up what kind of world your character is trapped in and how best to help them. Plotting post is here, make use of it!

The beast's power will wane once the bulk of the dreamers have escaped his curse. If your character was not at the party but you still want to involve them in the dream plot, that is fine! They can either help get people out or have seen the beast wandering in the woods before it was killed and have caught its attention that way.

He moved closer, twisting and twirling around Eagle and his friends.

"Life is but a dream," he intones in a serious, and strangely British voice. And then back to normal, "and dreams even more so~"

Hikaru was still asleep and Lantis didn't seem to pay the strange creature any attention at all but Eagle was beginning to worry anyway.

"Are you trying to say something? What do you mean by that?"

[canistricari]

"Nothing, nothing at all!" He cackles.

"I would so hate to interrupt such a sweet reunion!"

"Why would what you have to say interrupt anything?"

Lantis still didn't look the slightest bit concerned. If this were a dangerous kind of creature wouldn't he wake Hiakru and warn him to watch out? Then why did he have such a bad feeling...

[canistricari]

Coyote could be quite dangerous, when the mood struck him. But he meant these humans no harm. He was simply here to watch.

"It might change things," he offers tantalizingly.

[for_that_i_run]

Ah, but Lantis was only a dream. Even if Coyote held bad intentions he wouldn't move to do anything about it at all. A sad fact that Eagle hasn't quite become aware of yet.

"If it is only words than I don't see how it could change things."

Words could be powerful but this illusion felt a little too strong to be destroyed by mere words.

He giggles again.

"Your time with your friends is so limited! Do you really want to end it so quickly?"

[for_that_i_run]

No, he didn't... but he was also curious.

"Why would it be limited now? There is nothing left to prevent us from being together."

[canistricari]

"Except, perhaps, reality~" He flits around Eagle's friends once again.

[for_that_i_run]

Again they don't notice Coyote. They weren't really there anyway.

"But, this is reality."

[canistricari]

"You think so?" Coyote cackles loudly, right in Hikaru's face. "I wonder if the others would agree!"

"Leave her out of this."

Eagle nearly stood so he could get between Hikaru and that creature but... shouldn't that have woken her up? Hikaru wasn't that hard a sleeper was she?
The confused Commander looked to Lantis who was as peaceful as ever.

"Lantis?"

He didn't receive a response.

He backed off, but continued cackling madly. Let the dream run its own course now.

Lantis's stunning eyes staring at him unblinkingly, Eagle had to look away...
That reaction wasn't right. Even a reserved person like him would have said something to answer a question.

"If this isn't real then what is it?"

[canistricari]

His cackles quieted into giggles, and he turned to get in Eagle's face now.

"You can't guess? Poor, sad little man! All alone even in his own mind!"

[for_that_i_run]

That was more true than Coyote might have realized. Only Geo really knew the truth about him and his condition. Eagle had a tendency, while being polite and enjoying everyone's presence, to keep them at arm's length and not share his true feelings. Most only saw the smile and missed the shadows hidden behind it.

"It is an illusion? Something I wanted to see?"

[canistricari]

"Close," he giggled, "but keep trying! Where were you a few short hours ago, I wonder?"

At Cephiro castle? No, that wasn't right...

"It was that dance at the castle. Does that have something to do with this?"

[canistricari]

"I wonder!" He cackles again, dancing around the room like water falling from a cliff.

Eagle felt a certain sense of loss. If this happy scene wasn't real he couldn't really stay here...
He had to get back and face his future even if that future was a far darker one than this illusion portrayed.

With a new found determination he stood and walked away from Hikaru and Lantis and he didn't bother looking back.

"Since you seem to know so much. Do you know how I could leave here?"

He wouldn't allow false dreams to get in his way either.

"All you have to do is wake up!"

And with that, Coyote decided that he had interfered enough. He slipped through a crack in the ground and away from Eagle's mind.
