Action: but you never tire of dreams

Characters: Any willing dreamers
Open? Yes
Where: In your minds
When: After the party
What: Part two of the dream plot!
Warnings:

The party went on, with the beast's head on display. A proud, twisted thing. Behind false ruby eyes, it waited. And as the music became slower and the wine less plentiful, it waited still.

Those who had gazed upon it at the ball. Those who had seen it once living in the forest. All heroes who dared to look upon its face and dream still that they would be able to live another day...

There are all sorts of ways of living. In waking. In sleep. Perhaps, now, they would find one in between.

(ooc: Feel free to keep tagging into the party post! Once your characters go home and go to sleep of their own accord, that is when the dreaming will begin. Remember, it is up to you to set up what kind of world your character is trapped in and how best to help them. Plotting post is here, make use of it!

The beast's power will wane once the bulk of the dreamers have escaped his curse. If your character was not at the party but you still want to involve them in the dream plot, that is fine! They can either help get people out or have seen the beast wandering in the woods before it was killed and have caught its attention that way.

A door that can't be opened? It is the first thing Eagle inspects. He ran his hand along the door frame to make certain there wasn't a key hidden there, tried the doorknob which did not give an inch, and when that failed rammed his shoulder into the obstacle to try to force it open. It was no good though. The only exit was this little opening and that was a bit too small for him.

He looked back at the boy then but didn't dare approach, not yet anyway, the poor guy looked too terrified.

"It looks like we will be staying here for a while."

Faolan's eyes widened as he became aware of the other person in the room. He whimpered, drawing his knees closer. Strangers were bad.

But this man felt a little familiar; smelled a little familiar. He whimpered again, looking up with eyes wide behind bangs that had grown out too long.

[personal profile] for_that_i_run 2012-05-26 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Eagle settled in so that he could sit on the floor with his back leaning against one of the walls.

"Why would anyone put you in a place like this?"
greatsquirrelhunter: (sad)

[personal profile] greatsquirrelhunter 2012-05-26 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Faolan's voice is hoarse and soft. "Tried to run away. Caught me again."

He lets his legs drop a little, since Eagle isn't threatening. "How you here too?"

[personal profile] for_that_i_run 2012-05-26 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
"I don't know really. I just sort of found myself here."

Tried to run. Poor kid. Just what kind of place was this?

"Why were you trying to run? Because they keep locking you in places like this?"
greatsquirrelhunter: (sad)

[personal profile] greatsquirrelhunter 2012-05-26 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
"Do bad things to Faolan."

His arms tighten a little. "Never saw you before."

[personal profile] for_that_i_run 2012-05-28 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"In that case you should escape. No one deserves to have 'bad things' happen to them."

Never? But they had spoken before. Eagle couldn't help but find that strange.

"My name is Eagle. You don't remember that?"
greatsquirrelhunter: (sad)

[personal profile] greatsquirrelhunter 2012-05-28 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
It does sound familiar, although Faolan isn't quite sure why. Things arr strange in dreams.

"Tried to get away!" he says earnestly. "But Faolan is too small."

[personal profile] for_that_i_run 2012-05-28 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"Wouldn't being too small be an advantage? It could make is easier for you to hide when you get out."

Eagle gestured to the hole in the door.

"Maybe you could even slip through there?"
greatsquirrelhunter: (Too sad to go on)

[personal profile] greatsquirrelhunter 2012-05-28 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Faolan whimpered and shook his head. "Too small for boy," he said, not knowing if Eagle would know abut the wolf and not wanting to mention it.

[personal profile] for_that_i_run 2012-05-28 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"Maybe it is."

It was a small hole. The kid might not be able to squeeze through that.

"But isn't it better to try and leave? Otherwise you might end up having to stay here forever."
greatsquirrelhunter: (wolf puppy)

[personal profile] greatsquirrelhunter 2012-05-28 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, how that thought scared him. He was terrified to try and escape, but was being left here forever any better? And now there was Eagle here, and he couldn't let Eagle be hurt because he was scared. Eagle didn't look scared.

Whimpering softly, he pulled himself in, forcing himself to change. It was nowhere near as long and bones searingly painful as he expected. It was not the simple, nearly instant transformation it should have been, either. At the end, he lay panting on the floor, ears and tail limp.

[personal profile] for_that_i_run 2012-05-29 06:25 am (UTC)(link)
Now that was something. The boy could transform? Eagle had seen the cub running around a few times and spoken to Faolan but he had never actually watched the transformation before.

"Magic like that..." Well, that made one thing certain, "You should have no trouble getting out of the hole now."

If he could still wiggle after that. Eagle cautiously reached over to give the little pup a pat to see if he was hurt from that or not.

[OOC: And forgive me if Eagle has seen him transform before. I don't think he has but I can't really remember. ^^" ]
greatsquirrelhunter: (I'm being good)

[personal profile] greatsquirrelhunter 2012-05-29 02:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Faolan whined and nuzzled against Eagle's hand, then struggled to his feet and tottered closer. His whole body hurt, but he didn't have time to let himself ache. He had to get out and get Eagle out. It wouldn't be right otherwise.

[oc: I think the only one who's seen him transform is Giles.]

[personal profile] for_that_i_run 2012-05-30 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
If Eagle had knew Faolan was worried about freeing him he would have told him not to. Just making sure the boy was safe was enough.
He could help a little at least as he scooped the poor little puppy up and placed him nearer to the exit to make his journey a little bit shorter.

"Find a safe place to hide once you are out."
greatsquirrelhunter: (look what I found)

[personal profile] greatsquirrelhunter 2012-05-30 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
Faolan wriggles forward, nose pushing the flap just enough for him to look and sniff around outside. There doesn't seem to be anyone out there, so he finishes wriggling out.

Now is the harder part. He has to find where the key card is. He knows the code. They always have the same code. But he needs the card too.

But, like all badly created dungeons, the key card is hanging on the opposite wall, far out of reach of the door or the puppy who just came through it.

Eagle will now hear panting cries of pain as Faolan goes boy-form again.

[personal profile] for_that_i_run 2012-05-30 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
"Transforming like that must be difficult but you shouldn't waste too much time just standing there. The people who put you in this room could come back at any time."

There was no window to see what was going on. There was only the doggie door clad flap that would have been difficult for him to look through. Eagle had no idea the key card was so close since he only had the sounds of the boy moving across the room to go by.
greatsquirrelhunter: (serious)

[personal profile] greatsquirrelhunter 2012-05-30 02:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Fingers fumbling, Faolan dropped the card once before getting it securely in his hands. With a few moments' work, the door opened. Faolan reached for Eagle for reassurance.

[personal profile] for_that_i_run 2012-05-30 05:42 pm (UTC)(link)
The door suddenly slid open and Eagle found Faolan reaching out for him, a reaction soon rewarded with a hug as Eagle stood and lifted the boy up off the floor.

"That is very impressive! And here I thought you would escape alone. You did a very good job."

Eagle had been thinking he would have to find his own way to escape, Faolan finding the card key like that made things so much easier. Now all that would be left to do is walk out of here like they owned the place.
greatsquirrelhunter: (waiting)

[personal profile] greatsquirrelhunter 2012-05-31 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
Faolan was good? He smiles at the praise, arms winding around Eagle's shoulders and squeezing his appreciation.

He looked around, tugged at Eagle's sleeve, and pointed in the direction he thought was out.

[personal profile] for_that_i_run 2012-05-31 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Aww, he was such a sweet kid. Who would ever want to treat him this badly? This hug is returned with a added pat on the back. He had done a good job and been very brave at the same time after all.

Faolan knew this place better than he did. Eagle headed in the direction the boy had been pointing in.

[personal profile] greatsquirrelhunter 2012-06-01 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
Faolan continued to point out the direction, clinging close to Eagle as they passed labs and places where there should have been people. After a moderate time, they found themselves by a door that opened onto a sunny evening.
