Action: Come one, come all!

Characters: ALL THE PEOPLE
Open? Yes.
Where: The Palace
When: The night of the 3RD
What: A masquerade ball and a very deep sleep.
Warnings: Part of a comm-wide plot!

The Prince Sif has felled an unknown beast, and presented its stuffed head to the King. This would be reason enough for a ball, but there are victories to celebrate. More heroes arrive every day. The kingdom was aptly defended when the forest wall fell. No one has tried to assassinate the king in several days.

All told, a good night for a party. The theme of the ball is a masquerade, and shops in town have been surprisingly (almost suspiciously) able to provide gowns and masks in ready supply.

The palace has been opened to heroes and townspeople alike, provided they can present themselves appropriately. The heroes have been strongly encouraged to attend, and those who do not come voluntarily may well be greeted with royal retainers at their doorstep, outfit and dance card in hand. Expect a very full dance card, heroes.

The banquet table is stacked full of food – roasts and cheeses, summer fruits and vegetables, rivers of wine and more ornate desserts than should be permitted in a time or war. This evening is about success – best to enjoy it.

In the center of the ball sits the beast’s head. A scaly, purple thing. Its eyes have been taken out and replaced with rubies, its mouth twisted in the same sort of anguished look on its face as when Sif killed it. There has never been a beast like this in Schwanheim before – if you like, come closer and take a look. The king is very generous with his gifts.

[ooc: The party is a LIE. Well. No, it isn’t! Enjoy the party. Your characters will be expected to wear full masquerade gear, or they will be shunted aside and dressed properly.

After the attendees go home, they will be plagued with dreams more tangible than they have ever felt. More information here]

"It's quite extraordinary..." aside from the fact that it was probably fearsome and dangerous. It makes his statement all the more idiotic to say, but it's already been said no use in taking it back. Helios ducks his head upon noticing Giles' expression. He just gets worried bro you can't fault him for that. Yesterday was cray in a controlled way, sort of, but it was still a bit frazzling too. Though when he was soon to find out that Ginia was here it would be easier for Giles and that's all that mattered. He could watch over the both of them while trying to help fix Giles and it would be okay.

"No more wishing." He sounds...relieved to say those words. There's a long pause from him as he gives the man another look. "It also appears that the king is here too. I-I've been debating on talking to him, actually." He's not really sure what he would ask though and that's the only reason he hasn't just yet.

"Oh, really?" Giles glances up at the Randomly Biased King at Helios' words. His expression shows evident disapproval at the sight of the other man. "I was considering, um, dumping a pitcher of wine on his head, but th-that's, well, that's just me."

It's a joke, albeit not a good one. Giles can't pick up a pitcher of wine in his curerent state, and wouldn't put anyone else through the trouble even if they would or had given permission. "Just out of curiosity, um, w-what were you thinking of asking him?"

Kings. Britain technically still possessed a monarchy, but Giles had grown up in an age where that hadn't been considered something to be proud of.

Helios can't help but laugh at that and he'll cover his mouth as he looks away from the King so as to not draw unwanted attention to themselves.

"W-Well I can't, can't say I blame you f-for wanting to." He pauses to consider the question. Where does he even start?

"F-For starters I think asking about any and all information on this place as a whole would be good. M-Maybe even for records of the thorns. I'm also curious to know if there's any other neighboring countries in this world. This, this can't be the only place can it?" Unless the thorns got rid of all the rest.

"H-He probably wouldn't want to give us much information though. But it's worth a shot."

"Why wouldn't he? You're, um, you're a hero, same as the rest of them. I know we were brought in to solve the problem of the thorns, but, um, we were brought in. We, w-we can't be expected to be know the same as everyone else. I, I suppose you could always do a party trick or two for him, if he's really in an awful mood."

Because these are good points Helios is bringing up. Especially the last one. Are there any other kingdoms, or is Schwanheim where they're destined to make their last stand? Even if they're trapped on the other side of the thorns, there might be a way to coordinate their efforts, share knowledge, something...

"...I'll, um, I'll wait here. Moral support."

"I-I don't know. Being a-a magician and the like especially during these times wasn't the, the best of titles." True that he hasn't run into problems here but one can never be too sure.

"But I really am truly curious about it all." So many questions that have no answers. So many things he would love to ask. He swallows thickly nodding and smiling at Giles' words. "Thank you, for that. P-Perhaps if something goes wrong you can be ready with a pitcher of wine." He just smirks unable to keep the amusement out of his voice.

"You've gotten quite a reputation for odd jobs about the place, from what I've been able to gather. No one's going to stone you to death, i-if only because then they'd have to go back t-to doing those jobs themselves."

It's Giles' own unique form of reassurance, but he tries to back it up with a smile. "Go on, then. I'll, um, I'll be right behind you." Even if he'll be right behind him invisibly, Helios should know well enough what Giles feels like when he's around. Giles looks back up towards the king, before motioning for Helios to go first.

"After you."

That makes him feel confident and slightly reassured. The stone to death part he could have done without bro. Still Helios sighs and nods looking all the more anxious as he steps forward. He really is bad when it comes to authority figures. The Council left that sort of mark on him where he never quite confident when speaking to them.

"A-Alright. It-it can't hurt to t-try..." an audible sigh as he moves steadily towards the King now. Every now and then snatching a glance back over his shoulder and feeling the other's presence helps too.
