Action: Come one, come all!

Characters: ALL THE PEOPLE
Open? Yes.
Where: The Palace
When: The night of the 3RD
What: A masquerade ball and a very deep sleep.
Warnings: Part of a comm-wide plot!

The Prince Sif has felled an unknown beast, and presented its stuffed head to the King. This would be reason enough for a ball, but there are victories to celebrate. More heroes arrive every day. The kingdom was aptly defended when the forest wall fell. No one has tried to assassinate the king in several days.

All told, a good night for a party. The theme of the ball is a masquerade, and shops in town have been surprisingly (almost suspiciously) able to provide gowns and masks in ready supply.

The palace has been opened to heroes and townspeople alike, provided they can present themselves appropriately. The heroes have been strongly encouraged to attend, and those who do not come voluntarily may well be greeted with royal retainers at their doorstep, outfit and dance card in hand. Expect a very full dance card, heroes.

The banquet table is stacked full of food – roasts and cheeses, summer fruits and vegetables, rivers of wine and more ornate desserts than should be permitted in a time or war. This evening is about success – best to enjoy it.

In the center of the ball sits the beast’s head. A scaly, purple thing. Its eyes have been taken out and replaced with rubies, its mouth twisted in the same sort of anguished look on its face as when Sif killed it. There has never been a beast like this in Schwanheim before – if you like, come closer and take a look. The king is very generous with his gifts.

[ooc: The party is a LIE. Well. No, it isn’t! Enjoy the party. Your characters will be expected to wear full masquerade gear, or they will be shunted aside and dressed properly.

After the attendees go home, they will be plagued with dreams more tangible than they have ever felt. More information here]

He never has any luck trying to scare Bakura :D

"Heeeeeh, really? You'll have to show me how!" Bakura grinned, missing the frown as he examined the mask.
goldeneyeball: (trust me)

BUTTHURT FOREEVERRRR XD

"For a price I will." He'd been told once by his grandfather, if you do something well, never do it for free.

"Lame party, huh?"
shiromadoushi: (Embarrassed laugh)

*pat pat*

"Don't know what sort of thing I could pay that you wouldn't already have..." Bakura admitted sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck. "And it's not too bad this time. At least the masks make it easier to keep the fangirls away, ne?"

James blinked at Bakura.

Slowly.

"Right. Fan girls." He rubbed his neck. The skull was sort of heavy. Not really good mask material. "And I'm talking about money. Gold, silver, copper, whatever these people sweat in the sun over."

Bakura awkwardly scratched at his cheek. Or would have if it didn't have a mask covering it. "...the ones who always pester when there's a dance like this...?" he attempted to clarify.

"And I don't have anything like that. Just some American money, for some reason." The contents of his wallet had been a huge mystery when he'd discovered them, almost like it belonged to an alternate universe version of himself. An ID for an American university, a motorcycle licence from New York... both with his name an picture on them, so it wasn't as if it were someone else's wallet! He just had no idea when he had gone to America to get those things...

"The only girls I've seen are the ones that keep pushing me towards people at this stupid dance." He wasn't a very big hit with the ladies...probably had something to do with flipping over benches when he'd been eaten up by the moon.

The thought of American money lining his pockets was comforting...but he wasn't sure if it would be of much use here. He'd look around...do some snooping. If the people here looked like they could be duped into thinking 'foreign is better' he'd take Bakura up on that.

"They're the same ones." Though mostly, they were trying to drag him to dance with them and not other people. "All the girls in this place... they're all pretty bad like that."

JW felt a little sympathy for the kid. He'd never had that problem, but he didn't imagine it felt very good to be pestered constantly.

"Have you tried pretending not to know English? Or barking and drooling at them?"
shiromadoushi: (Anime: wut)

[personal profile] shiromadoushi 2012-05-23 12:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Bakura blinked a few times. "They don't tend to listen to anything I say anyway, so I don't know how that would help..."

And that second part... well... That was just weird, JW.

James held his arms out. "It sure couldn't hurt to try! Roll in the dirt, bite them. Be assertive!" he reached out to give him a little punch on the shoulder.
shiromadoushi: (Oh that thing eheheh)

[personal profile] shiromadoushi 2012-05-23 01:04 pm (UTC)(link)
... as if there were any way he would do that.

"... I.. guess that would work in scaring them off....."

James's skull grinned widely. "Sure would! You give it a shot, bet you my hat it'll work."

Another awkward attempt to scratch at his cheek. "They might think I'm possessed and attack, though..."

"Naaah! Well. Keep a knife on you just in case. Or do your magic." JW wiggled his fingers. As much as he hated to admit it, conversation was kind of nice once it started going. It was lonely out in that shack.
shiromadoushi: (Small smile)

[personal profile] shiromadoushi 2012-05-23 01:13 pm (UTC)(link)
"Might be more worth it to find a way to get my magic to make me vanish from sight when they spot me, I'd think," Bakura smiled.

"Now that's an idea..."

He wondered if he could figure out how to do that. Vanish like a buck in fog. That would come in handy.
shiromadoushi: (?)

[personal profile] shiromadoushi 2012-05-23 01:17 pm (UTC)(link)
"There should be some way to do it, right? Or even something like a distraction..."
goldeneyeball: (shit eating grin)

[personal profile] goldeneyeball 2012-05-25 09:41 am (UTC)(link)
"I'll get back to you on that." James gave Bakura a little wave. "I'm gonna see if I can find a way to cleanly assassinate this walrus that calls himself a king."

He left the mage with that tidbit and made his way back into the crowd.
shiromadoushi: (Anime: *sweatdrop*)

[personal profile] shiromadoushi 2012-05-25 11:21 am (UTC)(link)
... "That's not something you admit to aloud..."

Especially not in a place like this. Oh JW. You giant idiot.
