If Ive learned anything in these past few weeks it is that this world possesses a fair amount of magic in itself.

[As evidenced by the way they had all been summoned here, the thorns,and including more recent events such as the influences of the moon]

As I have been unable to return to my own world.. Ive decided to redirect my efforts into saving this one. If that is the only way to return to Cephiro then I shall do everything in my power to aide in these efforts.

[Clef had been a little stubborn at first but now he had resigned himself to this task. Suffice it to say, if he did happen upon a way to leave he would still seize the opportunity.]

Has there been any progress in learning more about this world or it's perils since we last spoke?

It would seem that the thorns are indeed the threat they were made out to be, if a slow one.

They must hold some weakness, but it will be up to our efforts to determine what that weakness is.

They seem to be somewhat sentient, immune to any normal magic or weapons.

Somewhat sentient? I don't suppose that anyone has tried reasoning with them? [He mused, but was partially serious. There were many things present in his own world that might act differently in another realm.]

I'm certain that you've considered that there may be a powerful sorcerer behind all this?

I have. It didn't go well. [ Alanna is the opposite of a good diplomat. ]

Could you elaborate? [She hadn't said much, but what she had said intrigued him]

The thing spoke in riddles. And when I promised to stop it, the thorns tried to consume me whole.

Interesting choice of words. What did this thing look like? Sound like?

[Then he added]

Whoever or whatever this creature was, it clearly has or had some sort of connection with the thorns.

It didn't look like anything, but it sounded like a woman's voice in my head. I believe it was the thorns themselves, or whatever is controlling them.

No wonder you found it difficult to describe. This unseen force intrigues me a great deal.

Can you recall any of the riddles or did the voice speak too quickly for you to catch any of them? They might be the key to it's undoing or at the very least a clue.

The last I recall is that... it cannot be severed, was forged in fire, and... what was it... counters all blows.

[He listened intently to what she had to say]

It sounds like a description of the thorns themselves. When they are cleaved, they simply grow back.. when they are attacked in any way they are protected.

[Forged in fire...]

I'm sure there's a way to destroy them. We just have to get creative.

Nothing is completely indestructible.

Have you spoken to any of the villagers about when the thorns first appeared? I wonder.. if they've been growing for generations or if it is a newer phenomenon.

They seem to be under the impression that they have always been there. And furthermore, that they have always been exactly where they are now.

I see. [Everyone was so focused on the thorns, something they could see, touch... but the thorns could have just been misleading them from the true danger]

Then no one would be aware of whether they were serving a purpose or not. [Keeping a monster at bay, or closing this kingdom off from a rival kingdom. The information available was so.. limited]

No. The only reason I know of any danger is because the creature herself told me. She wishes to devour this entire world.

Without any concern for the inhabitants? [How terribly inconsiderate]

I suppose it doesn't need to be said but that is something that cannot be allowed.

It did need to be said and I did.

I'm certain that will be a great relief to the people of this world.

[That Clef has decided to go along with everything. That is what the people wanted from the beginning.]

Perhaps, but as I'm sure you are well aware Commander Vision my focus still lies elsewhere.

what is it that you intend to do?

I intend to find out more about this world and the magic that brought us here so that I can return to Cephiro as quickly as possible.

Then your objectives still have not changed.

That is something I would never be able to give up on.

What will you do? Go and see the thorns?

Then you will be sorely disappointed.

Perhaps, though I doubt my visiting the thorns would yield any more information than what is already known about them.

It possess magic, but it isn't the same kind of magic that I am use to. Do you suppose you could help me understand it more by explaining it.

Nor is it identical to the magic my world possesses, despite a few similarities.

Before I proceed may I inquire as to the type of magic you are familiar with?

These do very different things depending on the core.

So your magic is contained in the bounds of this object? [They did have magical items on Cephiro. Jeweled gloves that could hold entire swords until they needed to be wielded, even his staff aided him in the channeling of his magic]

Are you able to choose the core or does the core choose you?

I heaven't really learnt much at all. I tried sneaking a plant through the thorns, which worked, but I was unable to find anything of use.

Am I to assume that you also possess a kind of magic? A pity that your sway over foliage seems ineffectual on the thorns themselves but it might serve useful in future.

Would that the situation in my own world was altered for the better, I could dedicate more of my thoughts towards this one.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter. [Cephiro was in such dire straights. It was possible that the world might not be there when he returned] Not as much as I would like. I've heard a fair amount about the thorns and their nature, plus I have heard that the Kingis a dullard.. and not useful in the slightest but I should like to speak to him for myself before passing such a judgement.

I am also well aware that the thorns are not the only peril that faces here of a magical nature.
