Rebirth Height 17 - Orb 3

Has anyone seem Koma today? I was thinking of trying my hand at these spinning wheels, and I wondered if she might want the yarn. [ BECAUSE CATS LIKE TO PLAY WITH YARN GET IT GET IT? ] Do let her know if you see her. Or if anyone else would like it, you're welcome as well.

Would anyone like to come spin with me? [ It's all the rage this... day. ]

"Hmm?" She started to stir, and for a very long moment she thought she must be dreaming. And really, such a dream! But no, it was definitely Eagle and he was definitely right there.

She blinked, and blushed.

Only when she moved did Eagle end the kiss. He stared blankly down at her until what actually happened dawned on him as well.
He had kissed her?!

Eagle's cheeks colored slightly as well. It was an embarrassing situation to find oneself in.

"I'm sorry. I have no idea why I... "

She covered her mouth as she continued to blink at him. Believe it or not, that was her first kiss. And she had been asleep for it! Hadn't she?

"Was I sleeping?" She didn't feel like she was sleeping. She looked around the barn, feeling quite lost and un-rested.

"You were and for some reason you didn't seem able to wake up."

Of course that didn't explain why he had kissed her but he didn't understand that either.

She frowned. As odd that it was that Eagle might be kissing her while she was asleep, her loss of consciousness was equally confusing.

"Strange," she said, pulling a piece of hay out of her hair, "I don't remember falling asleep. And what are you doing here, anyway?"

"I thought I would come and see how your yarn spinning was going since I was back in town anyway."

The other part had been entirely unplanned!

"You really don't remember falling asleep?"

A likely story indeed... She shook her head.

"Not at all. The last thing I remember is the spindle catching my finger. Then..." Well. He knew what happened next. Although it did warrant some explanation.

"Then I woke up and you were kissing me."

And he can't explain that!

"I really don't know why that happened! I was only trying to wake you up and just calling out to you wasn't working."

So he decided to kiss her? Not really!

"I am sorry. I have no idea what came over me."

She smiled at him teasingly.

"Goodness, Eagle, you could at least have the decency to court me while I'm conscious." She could afford to tease because she was fairly confident his romantic interests lay elsewhere.

How horrible! Teasing him when he is already so embarrassed! At least he can laugh about it all.

"You are cute when you are asleep."

She laughed.

"Only when I'm asleep? I'm hurt." She struggled to her feet, though it was difficult in the pile of hay like she was.

"Goodness, how long was I asleep?"

"Not too wounded I hope?"

Eagle stood when Tatra also moved to do so. He even offered her a hand out of the hay if she needed it. Hay can make for unstable footing.

"I don't know. Maybe the lady who lives here would know." Eagle nearly frowns, "I can't believe they just left you there like that."

She could have needed medical attention. What kind of person just leaves some one in a haystack?

"Just drowsy," she assured him, accepting the help. It would take more than a few minutes to get all of the hay out of her hair and clothes.

"I'm afraid the people here can be rather absentminded at times." She liked them, of course, but she wasn't stupid. The townsfolk only cared about their visitors from other worlds as long as it was easy or exciting.

"That is a problem. They seem to expect everything to be taken care of for them without their actually trying to do anything for themselves."

But, Eagle did like them too. They were nice enough people they just needed a little shove to get them to be more proactive about their own world and the people in it.

"Well," she declared, "no harm done!" But if it was the wheel responsible for the sudden nap, as would appear to be the case, they might have a bigger problem at hand.

"Perhaps we should check on the others."

"No, not this time."

He spared the spinning wheel a look before answering the next part.

"Do you think more people have been affected by this?"

"It seems likely," she confirmed. "There are an awful lot of these spinning wheels around, and they appeared so suddenly..." She was beginning to suspect that she had been under some spell since the wheels arrived. Everything seemed so obvious now.

"Then we shouldn't just leave this one sitting out. Some one else might be tempted to use it."

The ax hanging on the wall was looking tempting.

"What do you think would happen to the magic in that object if it were broken into pieces?"

"I have no idea," she admitted, "but it's certainly worth a try." After all, they could hardly get anywhere playing it safe.

The ax is collected and brought down one the spinning wheel enough times to break it up into much smaller pieces.

"There, that looks harmless enough now."

Tatra picked up a piece and peered at it, but he was right. It certainly did seem harmless enough.

"Well then, I suppose we'd better get going."

He nodded and headed toward the large barn doors.

"If that was the cause of your nap we should let everyone else know about it. Maybe they can avoid spinning wheels for a while."

She followed close behind, a worried frown on her face.

"At least until we can be certain."
