Um, does anyone know if there's a Mages' Guild here...? I mean, I've had a little training [...she can shoot fireballs reliably now, that counts as training, and also she might be able to do a little telekinesis now? TOTALLY COUNTS] but they kind of seem to be expecting me to do some more [she wiggles her fingers], you know, impressive stuff, and I hadn't gotten to that yet...

I don't think so... Not in the town, at any rate! [[a small laugh]] or at least not one that I've seen or heard about...

Oh. Hm... I guess I'll have to keep practicing on my own? [After all, Asotil's idea of just doing mage stuff to be a mage sort of worked?] Or... do you know if there's anyone around who teaches magic? I don't really have any money, but...

Someone at the castle might know... What sort of magic do you have?

Well, so far I have... [almost] mastered making fire, I guess. And, and! I think I moved something with my mind a couple times!

But, um, um, anyway, they said I was a fire mage here, I guess. Although I think that means something different here than it does at home? Because I thought mages just did all kinds of magic, but then again I used to think you had to have a beard to be a mage.

Well... you know, now that I think about it, I'm not really sure. I guess I just sort of got that impression from the stories I'd been told.

Aaa-- I guess that makes sense! Though most everyone I've met who can do magic or things like that never had any beards.

Do you know a lot of mages?

[shiromadoushi]

Sort of. I knew a few magic users back where I was before, and everyone had some sort of ability, those not too many of them were magic.

Oh, that's pretty impressive! Are you guys adventurers or something?

[shiromadoushi]

Aa-- not really. It was a city of superheroes. [[rubs the back of his neck sheepishly]] Though not everyone was one...

I don't really know what that means, but it sounds pretty neat! What do they do?

Aaahh.... [[This was an awkward question since... well... it wasn't that Bakura had a poor view of everyone who had been in the City... just... well... After living with his adoptive brothers, some of their bitter viewpoint had started to rub off on him.]]

Sometimes they fight off monsters, other times, they stop crimes. [[Most of the time they just postured and bickered....]]

Oh, so is it like being in the Imperial Legion, then?

[[blink blink]] I'm not sure, I haven't heard of that before.

I guess it's like... have you ever been in a city with guardsmen? Or a city watch?

Like a police force?

I guess if that's what that sounds like to you? That's what the Imperial Legion's like. They're guards and soldiers and they answer... they answer... to... the Emperor

Aaa-- it was a more modern world than that! Not really soldiers or any sort of ruler that that. There was the mayor, but he really wasn't anything that powerful.

Eheh, I'm not really sure if I get it, but that's okay. It sounds really interesting, though. I mean, the Empire is about as modern as it gets around where I come from, so I don't know what you mean by that...

Aaa-- like it's more in the future, if that makes any sense. With cars and computers and cell phones and things like that.

...um, maybe you'll have to explain that to me in more detail sometime? I guess there's a lot of differences between these "worlds" that we all come from.

Aaa-- un, probably. A cell phone is... [[and a pause as he goes into his pocket to pull his out. Yes, he still has it with him. It's not on because it has so little charge left to it and no way to recharge it, however...]]

Normally it has power to it and you can make calls or send messages on it, but there's no way to recharge it here...
